National Cookie Day!

Mood::iconlietplz:

This was yesterday, but who doesn't love cookies? There's so many different kinds. It'd be impossible to not find one that you'd like. I love chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, pumpkin walnut, cowboy, and I could go on for a very long time with all the flavors I love...:iconchibihungaryplz:
This is my wallpaper for the month. It's Gauche from Letter Bee. I miss this show! Very artfully done, their world is interesting, and the story is complex. Thought it was a nice, somewhat wintry looking wallpaper (I didn't make this!) for this month. Although, those things falling from the sky aren't snowflakes.:iconwtfromanoplz:Still, most of the scenes look very wintry.

My herb calendar has various edible flowers. Nasturtium, dill, fennel, onion flowers, calendula, and chive flowers. Kind of nifty to see them all together.

My Jewish calendar has 3 different types of menorahs. The main one's maker is unknown, made out of copper, from the Netherlands, from around 1850-1900. Another one is made by Abraham (Bram) van Gelderen, made out of metal and wood, and from 2001. (They don't say where it's from.) For the last one, the maker and origin are unknown, made out of copper, from around 1800-1900. (Wow! Huge gap there!) Interesting to see the older menorahs.:iconchibinitalyplz:The main one looks so nice and clean, they must have taken really good care of it.

By the way, Hanukkah starts the night of the 8th and goes until the night of the 16th. It's coming up fast!:iconusaplz:There's apparently 2 parties on Saturday that we've been invited to. One is at someone's house with a few other people. She said all we have to do is bring ourselves. Then, there's the main congregation's party at 5. (I say main because there's 2 congregations we're welcomed at, but only one where we're actual members of. Been a part of that congregation for years. Anyways, that's our main one.) I'd honestly like to stay at that person's house instead, if it's still going on. Then, with the same congregation a few days later, there's a Current Jewish Issues Forum thing called a Special Hanukkah Concert. Probably won't go to that either, considering the school psychologist holiday party is very close to the same time. (My dad's one, and they invited the families of the coworkers to a party at a restaurant too.) Finally, the other congregation has their party on the next Saturday. Supposedly, they're glazing mezuzahs (or mezuzot), as well. Kind of sounds odd.:icongermanyplz:We have a few, but why would we want to glaze them? Maybe they have new ones or something. I guess, if we go, we'll find out. I still haven't checked if we have Hanukkah candles, or even really thought about decorations.:iconkikuplz:It's going to be busy during that time.

Here's the month-long holidays: National Tie Month, Quince and Watermelon Month, Root Vegetables and Exotic Fruits Month, Universal Human Rights Month, National Egg Nog Month. Some are important causes, some are to make you appreciate things you may take for granted, and some are just for fun. Not many this month, surprisingly. I love watermelon, some root vegetables, exotic fruits, and egg nog. And, human rights is a great cause.

I'm really not feeling very well today. Might have been something I ate, I don't know. My mouth and throat are very dry, nose is going like mad, head is throbbing, sneezing constantly, and my stomach is churning. Not too well in the bathroom department either.:iconnorwayunimpressedplz:So, I felt bad enough that I decided not to go to the cafe today. Trying to cheer up and comfort myself with things.

Yesterday, we went to the trans support group my dad started. I was calling it my dad's group, but it's also made for people like me who are allies or SOFAs. (SOFA's stands for Significant Others, Family and Allies. I've also read that it can be spelled as SOFFA, and that means Significant Others, Friends, Families and Allies.) I actually got into several of the topics that were brought up. They liked that I found that group called COLAGE, and the off shoot of it called Kids of Trans. They, oddly, were more interested in the JLPT and other things I brought up related to Japan. (Mainly about what we did on Sunday, but I'll get to that a bit later in this post.) I'm not going to mention much else, because of confidentiality, but it was very interesting. (I thought I could mention these things, because I brought them up. Didn't say what they actually said.:iconhongkongplz:) We all, except for one person, went to Shari's for a late dinner. I had a salad that wasn't that great, and a bleu cheese burger with fries. The bleu cheese burger normally comes with bacon, and I told them since I don't eat pork products, to leave it out. It had a ton of onions, and they somehow tasted a little like bacon. Kind of like they had it in there, but once they remembered, took it out. Not much bleu cheese either. The fries were ok. I really liked their strawberry lemonade. Had chunks of strawberries in it.:iconchibicanadaplz:

For Monday, I just kind of took it easy, because of the craziness the day before. I got up early on Sunday (around 7:20. Early for a Sunday), and took the JLPT N5 (Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 5. Level 5 is the 'easiest', and Level 1 is the toughest one. Level 1 seems almost impossible to pass.:iconchibichinaplz:Level 5 is still pretty difficult) from around 12 to 3pm. I think I could hear the listening part much better than last time. I think I was better with the other sections too. I'm not supposed to say much about what was actually on the test, because again, of confidentiality. They could void my test. We won't know until February about our score. It's a bit grueling, and mentally drains you. So, I always feel tired after.:faint:

Then, we went to Uwajimaya. I love that place!:iconchibispainplz:I'm happy just looking around. Went through their bookstore that has several interesting books and magazines in Japanese. Some I could actually read pretty clearly. This is a branch of a Tokyo bookstore. They also have branches in New York City, and Paris. They had a similar magazine that looked like Cat Fancy, only with a lot more content.

They have such a wide variety of fish as well. And, a small Russian food area. We got some cherry Russian cookies. Very tasty stuff.:iconitalyplz:All the frozen stuff looked so good! But, they would go bad by the time we got home, so we couldn't get any. I love looking at the stuff from other countries besides Japan, as well. It's a fun cultural experience. We got some yakisoba that comes with some sauce packets. Several servings in a bag too. All you need to do is add meat/vegetables/etc. while it's cooking. Also, got a noodle bowl. Kind of similar to those ramen ones, but I think it has a different noodle. Don't remember if it's soba, udon, etc.

After having some fun there, we went to a Japanese restaurant called Maneki. (The full name is Maneki Neko, but for site listings and such they have it as Maneki.) I had some salmon onigiri (which I thought would come out like rice balls of the same name, but was more like sushi. Maybe they didn't expect foreigners to know... It was good though), tempura, takoyaki (octopus balls, the only exception I'll make for a non-kosher or treif thing. It's too good!), miso soup, chicken teriyaki, the salad and rice that the chicken comes with, and fried green tea ice cream for dessert. All of it was awesome!:iconfrancisplz:(Except the teriyaki sauce could have had a little stronger taste.) I couldn't eat most of it. Barely could eat half of everything. Managed to take a lot of it home. Sadly, I couldn't bring the rest of the ice cream with me. Only could eat half of it. It also had cherry flavored whipped cream on the sides, and a cherry on top. It was a great ending to a Japanese-themed day.

On Saturday, we did a lot of shopping. Was going to just grab a snack or drink at Hale's Ales, but we ended up having an early dinner. Had a turkey and cranberry sandwich with fries. Very good, but again, I couldn't get passed eating half of it. So, it was just another thing to take home. It's great to get at least 2 meals out of one. There was also a mishap with a sausage place at the mall. We wanted beef summer sausage, and I could have sworn we went to the register with it. But, once we got home, and were putting things away, I noticed that it was ham instead. I don't eat ham. So, we rushed back, and they gave us the beef one. I think the girl earlier who rang us up, switched the sausage to ham before she placed it in the bag. Which is pretty disturbing.:iconitalyishorrifiedplz:We also got some cranberry mustard there. Which tastes great.

Later, we went to Trader Joe's. I've only been to the one in Seattle, not the one that's local. It was pretty interesting. Not as much stuff, but still a great variety of things. Found some pretty awesome new things there. They also sell a lot of kosher (some glatt) things. Glatt meats are especially hard to find in markets in the area. (Not that I try to go that far. Glatt is really strict kosher.) They have a pretty tasty turkey bacon, and good plump dried apricots (I love when it still has little plumpness to it, not like leather). We also got frozen falafel, frozen latkes, some cheese, a panettone cake (a very tasty Italian cake with bits of dried fruit), frozen blueberry waffles, and some other things.

Love Letter...

Mood::iconnorwayfukkiretaplz:

no Kawari ni Kono Uta wo. (ラブレターのかわりにこの詩を。) In English: This Song Instead of a Love Letter. By Seira. This was Letter Bee's 2nd opening theme. It fits the series pretty well. And, it sounds awesome.:icondenmarkplz:I don't quite like the artist's vid to it, but the opening sequence in the anime is pretty and 'artsy'. It  sets the tone, too. Also, it has beautiful lyrics.:iconchibihungaryplz:

Today was really stormy. There was just rain in the forecast. Ended up being a thunderstorm with rain, hail, and wind. Glad I was inside my nice cozy home, and I wasn't out in it.:iconchibinitalyplz:
I changed my wallpaper. Thought I needed something a bit more light/funny. Also, I'm getting a little sick of Hetalia related wallpapers on my desktop.:iconkikuplz:So, lucky for me I got a butt-load of new wallpapers with different series as themes, recently. These are characters from Fairy Tail. I like Erza's and Gray's expressions. (Gray- aqua star, Erza-weird pink-ish red planet at the bottom.) I have more of this series, so, yay!:dummy:I did not make these by the way.

I still felt pretty bad today, but it might not be just because I'm a little sick.:iconraivisplz:It might also be about Japan. Scary stuff still going on there. I'm starting to really worry about my penpal. Noticed that someone listed her on that people finder thing, to find victims of the earthquake and tsunami. They just listed that they're looking for her, and no one has heard from her.:iconchibilithuaniaplz:So, I don't really know what's going on with her. I finally managed to come up with an email to send her. I was having a hard time figuring out what to say.:iconchibijapanplz:It's a tough situation. Not only was she in one of the worst areas affected; she also has health problems and she said she was about to go to the hospital in her last letter. So, there's that, and I'm not sure if she has family, so I didn't ask if they're ok. I wanted to know if she still wanted me to send my letter to her address, another place, or just to type it up in an email. Mainly, because her home may have been swept away on top of all this.:iconitalyishorrifiedplz:So, like I said, it's tough.

I added GM Odore Doctor to my incomplete drama list. Noticed most episodes that are up are raw, and it's not the entire series. So, maybe sometime in the future.:iconfrancisplz:Just leaves my schedule open for one more drama. That means 4 new dramas that I'll start soon. Hopefully, they'll be good. It might be 5, since I might be having a hard time finding working Call Center no Koibito episodes. So, wahoo! Almost an entire week's worth of new stuff. Exciting!:iconlachoirplz:

I made one of the recipes I found off of Today's Menu for Everyone. It was sauteed chicken and onion sauce. Came out really tasty!:iconchibispainplz:Very intense vinergary sauce. I like that kind of thing.:iconheroamericaplz:First time I heard in a recipe, that I had to 'massage' the seasonings into the chicken. I've heard of rubs, but not worded that way. Interesting. There was a lot of ingredients, but it was pretty easy. Except the onion grating part.:iconnataliaplz:We had it over rice, and a salad on the side.

deviantART faves: Tsukuyo Australia: cup collab Kyubi watercolor Pray For The Japanese kitten is tired Rose Pie Key Lime Pie Sweet retro I did not make these! First, a really well done drawing of Tsukuyo from Gintama. Another artist I watch. I love their style. Second, it's an entry for the Hetalia version of the cup collab. This time with Australia in Crocodile Beer. Is that another name for Foster's or something? I haven't actually seen Australia in the manga or anime yet. (Although, I'm a little behind in the manga.) Third, a pretty, but simple watercolor of the kyuubi from Naruto. Really nice looking. Fourth, one of the more 'sensitive' type of art that I've seen about what's going on in Japan right now. It's very simple, but nice. Fifth, is a cute pic of a kitten. Sixth, an awesome and 'artsy' looking pie. Seventh, really tasty looking key lime pies. Eighth, an awesome pic of 2 cupcakes with some fancy looking decoration.

Presidents' Day

Mood::icondancingrussiaplz:

This is part of a 4-day weekend in honor of Washington and Lincoln's birthday. It's also in honor of all the other presidents we've had since.:iconimtheheroplz:It was originally designated on Washington's birthday, which is really tomorrow. It's an interesting holiday.:iconhappychinaplz:Most people don't think too much about the meaning, and seem to be just happy it's a 4-day weekend. I guess that's ok, but it's also a little sad.:iconohboyamericaplz:

It's a bit warmer than they predicted for today. Which is ok with me.:iconheroamericaplz:They still think there's a high chance it will start to snow either tomorrow night or Wednesday. Yay!:iconyaykumajiroplz:

This morning I woke up to loud hissing and banging.:sleep:When I got downstairs, I noticed Tasha had made it down there, and was hiding from the other cat next to the piano. Apparently, they're food bowls were entirely empty. It was full when I went to bed. Strange.:iconchibijapanplz:They probably were fighting over that. Later, after giving them more food, I looked for Tasha again. She was no where to be found. Still is.:iconitalyishorrifiedplz:I hope she's ok and just hiding somewhere. The other one looks very happy.

I posted a pic to dA: Park It already has 2 faves!:dummy:Posted 3 pics to my thread in my fave forum. I played some more Mozart. Did much better than last time. I played for the full amount of time I normally do. Wahoo!:iconseychelles-plz:Somehow couldn't last time. Made some mistakes, but wasn't too bad.
In Afterschool Charisma, Shiro still has to keep an eye on Mozart. Just to make sure he doesn't attempt suicide again. Mozart seems a little 'disturbed'. He thinks everything is funny, and says Mozart is dead. His room was cleaned up and organized while he was in the hospital. Supposedly, they're not actually going to kill Joan. But, the human sacrifice has to look authentic. When Mozart goes to an Almighty Dolly meeting, everyone thinks he's changed his destiny just by attempting to kill himself. They want to be like him. He just laughs at them. The school's director, Rockswell, is behind distributing the 'Almighty Dolly' and the cult. He was told by someone to distribute the dolls. He doesn't know who. As for the cult, he wants the clones to believe in something. He thinks it's a good emotional outlet. He promised Einstein and Rasputin that if they followed everything, they could leave the academy. (I don't think that will happen. He likes to play with clones.) The cult will be reenacting Joan of Arc's burning at the stake for the expo. Mozart doesn't want to perform for the expo. Freud's still trying to find more info on the assassins group. He's pretty smart about it. He's good at 'messing' with people's heads, and manipulating them. I think the clones are more like their originals than they realize. The story keeps getting more and more interesting.
日本語
Done with translating a sentence from that stress reliever article. Also, got the author's name. Which so happens to be the person modeling the exercises too. Then, started another sentence. アスリートにヨガを指導している運動科学のエキスパートが伝授する、身も心も美しくなるメソッド。(Asuriito ni yoga o shidou shite iru undou kagaku no ekisupaato ga denju suru, mi mo kokoro mo utsukushiku naru masoddo.) Through expert guidance methods, athletic yoga exercises grow both the body and mind beautifully. 文・モデル/山本邦子 (fumi/moderu: yamamoto kuniko.) Article/model: Kuniko Yamamoto.
In Hetalia, the Allies were shipwrecked while trying to catch the Axis. America and China were shipwrecked on the same island. (They're in the pic.) Don't know about France, Russia, or England. America seems to find things easily. Like, a cave nearby for shelter. He brought a ton of junk food. China lectured him on healthy food. America just thinks it's better to enjoy eating what you like. This sounds an awful lot like Italy's point of view. When Germany tried to get Japan to eat a healthier diet. (Less salt, anyways.) Kind of funny. America somehow gets China hooked on his chocolate candy bars. Nothing seems to phase him. Poland cross-dressed at the end. It was a bit random. The only thing I don't like about America, is his laugh. But, for some reason it really grows on you.
I watched the last episode to the first season of Letter Bee. There's an anti-government organization called Reverse. They had been watching Gauche for years. They wanted him to join. Lag bumps into Gauche. But, he's changed a lot. Supposedly, he's a Marauder and changed his name to Noir. Roda looks human now. She fights Niche, saying she's a failure at being a dingo over and over. Gauche shoots Lag at the end. It's like he's gone crazy or something. They did say he may have used up his heart. Sad! I hope he can change or something. It was kind of a rough ending. But, I guess it was a hook to watch the next season. I hope it's just as good, if not better than this season. I'll start it next week. So, we'll see.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mood::iconchibiamericaplz:

I've always liked this holiday. There are some downsides to it for me, but I mostly still like it.:iconchibicanadaplz:I like the candy and such, not so much the lovey dovey stuff. It's also National Condom Day (hmmm... I wonder why?:iconenglandispervyplz:), National Women's Heart Day, and National Donor Day. All nice holidays.
This is my wallpaper for the month. I know, it's a little late. It's got Denmark, Sweden, Sealand, Norway, Finland, and Iceland from Hetalia. An awesome artist I watch on dA made it.:iconfrancisplz:It's kind of funny. I need to find more wallpapers, though.:iconberwaldplz:

Tokyo Wankei yesterday, was intense. Mika and Ryosuke happily made it to Korea. And, are headed towards her mother's 'promised land'. Ryosuke's mother had some sort of mental breakdown. Started attacking his father, and went on a violent rampage. Mika finally turned down Koichi's engagement ring. He tried to catch Mika and Ryosuke before their plane took off. But, some crazy guy on drugs went around stabbing people. Koichi was the most critically injured. He may be a paraplegic now.:iconitalyishorrifiedplz:Mika's best friend and Ryosuke's ex-girlfriend are falling for each other. They're cute together.:iconchibihungaryplz:And, it seems they deserve a little happiness, too. Good for them!

It's been pouring rain and windy today. Yay!:iconkikuplz:It was nice to get back to a semi-normal day. Although, I'm still sick. I'm done editing chapter 12. (Finally!:dummy:) I'll probably post it to dA tomorrow. It felt good to play my clarinet again. Played some more Mozart. It's been a while since I played, so I obviously made some mistakes. My fingers hurt so much, I couldn't play my 'normal' amount of time.:iconlietplz:Oh well. I at least got some playing in. I got all the components for one of those sentences in the You Maga article about stress. Just need to make a logical sounding English version. I'll probably get to post that tomorrow, too.
In Afterschool Charisma, all the clones are preparing for the expo. It's similar to taking a yearly exam. Also, an opportunity for the school to show off what their clones can do to the outside world. Shiro meets the school director, and he nearly kills him. Joan forced Napoleon to take an 'Almighty Dolly'. Napoleon,  Elizabeth, Nightingale, and Freud decide to spy on an Almighty Dolly gathering. With the help of Shiro. Rasputin wants to have a ceremony during the expo. One where they'll have a human sacrifice. The clone chosen will die in a similar way as their original. He thinks the Almighty Dolly can change the rest of their destinies. They actually agree to it. He picks Joan as the 'sacrificial lamb'. Mozart finally woke up from his coma. Shiro's sent in to keep an eye on him. Just in case he attempts suicide again.
In Hetalia, they talked about 15th century Europe. There was the Brave of the North, Denmark. An increasing influence of the Teutonic Knights. The Golden Horde's expansion. And, the Ottoman Turks. Lithuania and Poland entered a union with each other, after a marriage alliance. And called it the Union of Krewo. Apparently, Poland likes to be addressed as Lord Polska. But, he makes an exception for Lithuania, and tells him to call him Po. He ends up calling Lithuania, Liet for short. They share stories about their capitals. Interesting, they seem to be putting out 2 episodes a week. Wahoo!:iconyayhanatamagoplz:Well, it's much better than just the 5 minutes.
In Letter Bee, Zazie shows up to help Lag and Connor. Apparently, Gaichuu kill people by eating their hearts.:iconraivisplz:Or really, they're souls/memories. The person basically becomes an empty shell, becomes frail and weak, and then slowly dies. Zazie, Lag, and Connor work again to try and defeat the Cidre Gaichuu. Lag ends up saving everyone. You have to shoot it in the butt, so the pic's of Lag doing that. It was a really good episode. Next episode seems to be the end of the season. After that, I can finally start Letter Bee Reverse.:la:
