This is an international holiday. Definitely for a good cause. It's based on UN's General Assembly's adoption and proclamation, in 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It was the first global enunciation of human rights. (According to wiki.) Also, it's Nobel Peace Prize Day.
Well, we're expected to have flooding all weekend. We're lucky, because we're not next to a river and we live on a hill. So, no worries. Just the nuisance of heavy rain.
I went to the Hadassah Hanukkah party on Wednesday. It was nice to see everyone again. The only problem was that stupid flickering light the hostess had over table with all the food.I was getting a huge headache. So, I went and sat on the couch facing away from it. People probably thought I was being anti-social, but my head felt like it would explode.Soon enough, other people started sitting next to me, saying the light was getting to them too. Yay! I wasn't the only one! There was 2 different latkes (complete with 2 different jars of apple sauce), 2 fruit platters, some salad, a quiche, really weird cheesy potato bite things (too strong for me), and something else for dinner. Then, we had our meeting. Talked about the success of our Mah Jong tournament, the profits, and reviews. We also lit the Hanukkah candles. And, each person talked about what this Hanukkah was like for them, any 'words of wisdom', their memories of Hanukkah, and other stuff. It was interesting to hear what people said. Then, we all had dessert. There was huge whole (some were cut in halves) jelly donuts, toffee peanuts, Reese's cups, kisses, and some really over the top awesome tiramisu cake.It was all so good! It's been a long time since I've had jelly donuts, so it was bit difficult to eat my powdered sugar one. Every time I took a bite, the powder went everywhere. Not only that, but the jelly would pop out too.Messy, but oh so worth it! Oh, the hostess didn't want to keep the left over donuts, and gave them to us.
After dessert, almost everybody went off to play some Mahj. I told the lady who never plays Mahj, that I brought Boggle and some dreidels. She said she hates all games. How do you hate all games?!I know you might hate some games, but you can't hate them all. Anyways, I told her it's been years since I've played dreidel, I really want to play! If you don't play with me, I'll awkwardly play it by myself. She said, ok, I'll try, but only for a round. She's never played it before, so I had to teach her. We used the bowl of Reese's cups and kisses to gamble with. She kept saying she couldn't spin it 'correctly' or perfectly. I told her I've been spinning it for years, I have a lot more experience, so of course you're not going to be perfect right off the bat. It takes a little practice. If it wobbles and changes to another letter, then it's fine.I won the 1st round, and she won the 2nd. (I kind of let her win.) But, in the middle of the 3rd round, she started eating her candy, and just talked. Oh well, at least I got a chance to play.We were there until around 10, that's late when we do our regular meetings.
I watched the finale of Bloody Monday. It was awesome!Great performances by the actors! Very interesting story. A neutron bomb was in the 'jewelry box'. K's pulse was powering the timer. If she died, the timer will stop. Eventually, she does die. But, she says just as she's dying it was a lie, that if she dies the bomb goes off immediately. It didn't. Probably, because J took everything out of the bombs beforehand. He plans to use them in the future. The butterfly guy's still alive!Haruka gets her father's kidney after he dies at the hospital. Their father really was just spying on the organization, he never betrayed THIRD-i. I can't wait to start season 2 next week! This seems to be like my week of finales or something.
I wasn't able to get decorations up before Hanukkah started. But, I'm determined to do them today. We almost forgot to light the candles last night. After the blessings, we sang a song, and then that was it. The new cat was very interested in the lit candles. I wonder what she'll do on the last night? On the first night there's only 2 that are lit, and on the last night night there's 9. One's the shamash or 'helper' candle, and it's used to light the others. It's raised higher on the menorah, too. When all the candles are lit, it's quite an amazing sight!Especially when you have a lot of menorahs too. I'm using the old one I always use.
I made pot roast (really was pre-cooked), homemade mashed potatoes (with garlic and chives), and carrots for dinner last night. I didn't remember how long the potatoes have to cook before you can mash them. I thought like 5 minutes. And, it didn't help that I didn't chop them up into pieces beforehand. But, that's ok. Ended up eating around the time we usually do, so it wasn't a big deal. It was really tasty!I have no idea what I'll make tonight. Wish me luck.
I watched Bloody Monday last night. It was just too awesome!Had to skip an episode, but I got the gist of it. There was a lot of crazy twists and turns. Surprised K is really Mako. I knew Otoya wasn't, because he helped Third-i and Fujimaru way too much. Mako was pretty quiet most of the time. Really surprised she killed (shot 3 times, but he looks like he's a goner) Fujimaru's father. Maya seems to be playing 3 different fields. Working for J, K, and Third-i. She's good. The organization doesn't trust J anymore. Their 'High Priest' was murdered (by Maya). And, supposedly there's something far worse than the Bloody X virus in a 'jewelry box'.Only J and K know the contents. But, they call it Bloody Monday. This show's only getting better and better with each episode!
Tasha and Rosie fought a lot last night. It sounded like an all out brawl. A lot of hissing and knocking into things. I've only seen Rosie so far.I hope Tasha's not too badly beaten up. The other cat still has her claws, so it's kind of an uneven match. She's already scratched Tasha's nose. I hope they work it all this out soon.
Posted a pic: Boats I kind of like this one, but I know it's not perfect. Played some more Irish tunes. Only made a few mistakes. Surprisingly, they were on ones that come easy to me usually.Finished editing the Sour slot. Only 2 more, and I can put it all together in the meme.
In Dear, Chiruha's ears pop out while she's taking care of Purina and Komomo. Purina goes into some sort of trance and attacks her. She was possessed by the Lycanthrope mummy again. The mummy just wants to be with his kin. Kisara told the others that they have to explain who they are at a dinner party. Doesn't trust them around Chiruha. Chiruha's just oblivious to what's going on. It was like watching a fireworks show when they were finding out about each other. Funny and very amusing. They talk things out peacefully and make a pact. To never tell anyone about Chiruha, and to cooperate and find a way to cure the Lycanthrope's curse together. Kisara didn't agree with it, and said they probably couldn't cure his immortality. Which made Chiruha pissed. Chiruha and Kisara later talk it out, and she persuades him that he'll be happier if he was cured. (In pic: Komomo, Subaru, Chiruha, Kisara, Purina, Kurenai, and Carol.)
Yay! For Thanksgiving! One of my fave holidays. It's fun to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and then in the afternoon go to our friends' house. Where we chat for a while, and then eat. There'll be 6 people this year. I thought there'd be 8, but she was hoping that a couple of people would RSVP late or something. Never happened. But, that's ok. It'll just be the 3 of us, the 2 hosts, and another friend of ours. She's the president of our Hadassah group. Very nice person, just hard to deal with if you're on the board with her.So, sounds like it will be nice. We might have to go to that person's place, if they can't keep their wood stove going. It would be nice to see their new(ish) dog again. I can't wait to have that smoked turkey they make, the stuffing (hopefully, they'll have it without the chestnuts like usual), pumpkin pie, and the brownies. (And, I actually like that canned cranberry stuff. Better than the 'relish'.) Good stuff.
I forgot to mention, the storm was so bad that the Behavioral Health Center; where I go for my therapist's and psychiatrist's appointments, was closed. So I couldn't go to therapy. Wahoo! But, it was nice that my therapist called us about it. Of course, since we didn't have power, the only working phone in the house was upstairs. So, I was trying to call the center, and was on hold for 10 minutes. Then, we realized someone left a message.
I watched the finale for Untouchable. Anonymous was Ryoko's brother, Koji. (Just as I thought.) The actor played an awesome villain! One of those ones you love to hate.Just very well acted. Loved the evil side more than when he was 'acting' like a hero or protector. Ryoko got closer to Takafuji. They thought Koji blew himself up. But, Ryoko sees him at the very end watching her from a distance. A very nice finale. Except for leaving us hanging with the possibility Koji's still out there.Maybe there will be a second season? This show was awesome overall!
I was going to watch Bloody Monday, but watched this instead, because I can't seem to find the episode I'm on.If I don't find it next week, I'll just skip to the next one. I also looked at the dramas the actors from Untouchable were in. Added a lot of them to my list. Played a little of the Sims 2 yesterday. It's becoming more and more interesting. I'm getting a little nervous about the JLPT coming up so soon. But, if I just relax, study the way I have been doing, it should be ok. If I worry too much, I'll screw up or freeze up.Also, faved a lot of stuff on dA. Too many to post the links.(I think.) Mostly, food stuff. Also a new StupidFox and Spain and Romano in a tomato field.
