Rosh Chodesh Av was on the 24th. There's only 2 holidays during this month. One is a fast day and considered one of the saddest days. I might go into it more on or around that day. The other one is supposed to be one of the happiest days.
A few days ago, I was selling a bunch of stuff I had accumulated on Gaia. I really needed to clean up my inventory, and it's a great way to make gold. I like to use their 'dumpster dive' to not only find interesting stuff, but to sell expensive things I don't want. It's kind of a 2-for-1 thing. A lot of that stuff people actually buy real money for, but you can get it for free (if you're lucky) or a gold amount on the market that has other users selling stuff. If you know the system, it's great. I always sell stuff just a little less than the lowest price it's being sold at. It helps a lot. I've been selling things pretty quickly, and have made about 6 billion gold in that amount of time.
Anyways, someone pm'd me asking if I could lower the price of something by a lot. Not only do I try to go lower than the market is selling them, but I usually have the option as buy only. Once it is listed, I can't change the price. It's fixed. People can choose the options of bid, timed bid, barter, barter among their friends, etc. Those are more fluid. Plus, with lowering it by so far, I'd cheapen myself. It sold while I was asleep anyways.
She later pm'd me asking to be my friend. Saying we had a lot in common. I thought: sure, I might as well. I don't really know them, and it'd be nice to have another friend on there. The first post of hers was super long. It looked like a wall of text. Me being someone who wants to get to know others more tried to respond with as much as I could. I either write very little or a lot, depending on who I'm talking to. With every post, hers seemed to get longer. I felt I don't have time for that sort of stuff. She also repeated herself word for word several times. Almost like she was copying and pasting. That seemed suspicious in itself.
She said she was 18, and joined Gaia when she was 10. Gaia doesn't let anyone join unless they're 13+. A lot of the stuff can be too much for kids younger than that. Even then, some of the items can be very mature. I've been surprised sometimes. She said she loved my blog, even though she just found me. Yes, my blog is listed on my profile, but she couldn't have had the time to read much of it. She went on and on about her depression. Don't get me wrong. I understand and am cool with talking about it, but at some point you should talk about something else...Also, bringing G-d into it felt strange.
I later looked at her profile. The background had warnings about 3rd party viewers or something. She had a HUGE wishlist. Took up about half of her profile. There wasn't much info on her. Oh, I think I tried to check her profile before we were friends, but only friends could see it. There wasn't really anything to hide...I looked at her forum posts, and noticed she was posting every single day for several hours at a time, and every minute during that in a giveaway thread. You can't post every minute on there. There's a time limit between posts that you can't post a thing until it's up. It's like 5 minutes each time. It's supposed to keep spammers away. Plus, that seems weird to me. I understand trying to get items that way, but that's overkill.
I think she was fishing for info from me. I only told her things I'm willing to share with most people. Not like I gave her my address. I'm glad I stopped responding after I realized, and blocked her. If she's reading this, and it was a real account, I'm sorry. It just seemed too fishy for me. Reading/writing that much every time, for a conversation, was a bit much. So, hopefully, I wont get an angry comment. At least, I'll be the only one who sees it (I have it set to moderate comments before publishing), and I can block her on here if need be.
Lately, I've been getting a lot of likes/follows for my Alliance fb page. That's been really cool. A couple are from the Philippines, one's British (they actually liked Sweet Endless Terror, too), one's from South Africa, and I think another one's Nigerian. All these in the last couple of weeks. Sounds like they're from all over. Makes it more interesting.
I tried to make a meetup group for the local ace group. I went through the whole process of setting up an account for myself, then looked into making one. Apparently, it costs each month to make your own group on there. I could somewhat understand if we already had several members that were regulars offline, and we were taking dues or donations. The offline group hasn't been active, so there's no money for this sort of thing. That's kind of why I wanted to make a group on there in the first place. To get more members...I'll look into other sites that are similar but free in the future. I'm disappointed with meetup now.
I've kept up with writing both the sequel to Alliance and the memoir. I'm doing both each day now. I think I'm writing them about twice as fast as before this way. Makes me happy. Although, this means I essentially have to think twice as much while I write, too. Thinking about it while typing is the same as before, but then I have to think about the other one sooner. I'm trying to take a break between them, so I don't burn out.
Recently, it seemed Netflix had completely wiped my list off. That list that is really long, but full of interesting international stuff. So, I decided to redownload it. It wouldn't except the password I had. A couple of days later, I tried it again with a slightly different password and got in. All of the things on my list were still there. Yay! I've decided that I might treat myself with a show of some sort after I finish writing for the day. Most recent ones I've started have been a Belgian detective show called The Break, and another Singaporean detective show called Against the Tide. Both have been surprisingly good.
The Against the Tide one is about a famous mystery/fictional crime author. He's fascinated with psychology and studied a little of it in college. Apparently, in the current case, a murderer is copying everything from one of his books. There's also a psychologist who's helping with the case. Her client was killed. She seems like she's a main character. She finds criminals interesting, and tries to find out why they act the way they do. There are actual detectives, too. Ones a huge fan of the author, and the other seems like a real jerk. I hope they change that in the future. It loosely reminds me of Castle. I feel his look has a similar vibe to it, too.
The Break seems to be about a detective who goes to extremes to get answers. No one else seemed to be into the current case. (Except for his partner.) They kept labeling it a suicide. One of the characters has a ton of Nazi memorabilia. He might be the culprit. They also keep flashing to the future where he's talking to a therapist, and he seems to be involuntarily stuck there. Something big happened.
Finished watching Uchouten Kazoku 2 or The Eccentric Family 2. I ended up not liking Benten as much as before. She always had a dangerous side. She turned out to be bitchy, too. And, not in a good way. Yasaburou, one of the main tanuki brothers, was going to be cooked into a hotpot. Same thing happened to their father. He ended up being saved, and the humans in the Friday club that held that dinner annually, will most likely never be able to do it again. Yasaburou finally agreed to marrying Kaisei. She looks much younger than him. It seems a little weird that way. The only thing that kept him from agreeing was every time he'd see her, he'd transform from his human form back to his original tanuki form. In their culture, they say if this happens they're made for each other. He has an extreme case of it, though. It's usually not every time. The grandma was so cute. She was just a giant white ball of fluffy fur with a head that almost disappeared. She seemed to always be tired, and would take frequent naps. I think she lived in the forest.

National Cherry Cheesecake Day!
I used to hate cheesecake, until I had some with a topping while I was at a Jewish summer camp. Fell in love with it afterwards. I think it had strawberries on top. Cherries are awesome with it, too! Fruit in general usually goes well with it. I think when it's plain, it's too rich of a taste for me. There needs to be something that cuts through it. A few months ago, I remember having a black cherry (they were baked in, not as a topping) and chocolate cheesecake from Safeway, and it was one of the best I've had. I think their cheesecake is supplied by the Cheesecake Factory, so that would make sense. They know their stuff.
Wow! This is the 900th post to this blog. That's a milestone. I want to post more often, like I used to. This month seems to be the best, in terms of posts this year.
Sweet Endless Terror is now available in print on Amazon! Yay! It's now linked up with its ebook version. It wasn't for a while. Here's the direct link to it: Sweet Endless Terror. This version isn't quite available to all the global marketplaces yet. I noticed it's in the UK and German one. They did say it might take up to 72 hours to fully be distributed globally. This doesn't take into account their distributors within those marketplaces. So, it'll take a while. I did spread the info about it to several places today. So, maybe people will be interested that way.
For some reason, I was feeling really down Friday night. Some of my friends are into Snapchat, and I decided to download it and checked it out. Many of the pics my friends have shown have been cute and funny. Why not add a little humor when you're feeling down. Perusing the filters was interesting. I did take a pic with, I think, a bunny with ears down. Some sort of animal, anyways. It had big droopy ears, made my eyes bigger, added a pink nose with whiskers, added more blush to my face, and hearts were floating around. My shirt was crooked, but oh well. I thought it was funny looking, and probably the best one for my face. I don't know. I posted it on fb, and I don't think anyone reacted to it. I've had a couple of people on Instagram like it. Again, not many. It must have fallen under the radar with people. It's rare for me to not have anyone at least like something like that. Now that I think about it, with almost everything I posted Friday night through Saturday (which wasn't much), had no reaction. Weird.
When I posted a reminder yesterday for the local ace group on fb, I got 3 quick likes. Interesting. I hardly ever get reactions to my reminders. It might be that those 3 people will be available, and are interested? That'd be cool. It's an unusual one, considering it's the 5th Saturday. For the local trans group, they have the 5th Wednesday as social/potluck/movie sort of thing. There has only been one other member that's shown up to the local ace group meetings so far. So, I wouldn't do anything 'special' for this one. Not sure what we could do at a cafe that would be different.
I've tried some of the new anime this season, and quite a few felt like duds. A couple of them I thought would be great if they didn't have just 5 or 10-minute episodes. (Normally with most anime, without the op and ed theme songs, episodes are about 20 minutes.) I can't really get into those. Apparently, a lot of people were complaining that so many shows are that short this season. I wonder why they are? I ended up keeping only 5 of the 'new' anime.
Uchouten Kazoku or The Eccentric Family's season 2 started. It's just about as weird, interesting, and funny as it was during the 1st season. They do 'weird' right in this series. It seems even darker this time. Although, last time the humans wanted to eat the tanuki. One of the brothers, who has been stuck in a well as a frog for years and can't transform back, might finally be able to get out and return to normal. He was recently given a special medicine that might help. He seems to be the wisest of the brothers, yet something is keeping him down there. I think during the 1st season, they mentioned it might be a mental thing for him. The son of the tengu that Yasaburo takes care of has returned to town. He's very into English things, teatime, dressing in Western clothes, having certain furniture, etc. He doesn't approve of his father. It seems if everything isn't perfect or he doesn't get his way, he snaps and becomes violent. He's extremely polite the rest of the time. Seems really dangerous.
Seikaisuru Kado or Kado: The Right Answer, has been very interesting. The animation's a little weird, but the rest of it has kept me from dropping it. It seems like, what I like to call, a very cerebral show. It's constantly making you think. It's basically about an alien that arrives in a cube, that immediately engulfs an airplane as it lands on Earth. The passengers and crew are going to be stuck inside this cube for a month. Apparently, it takes that long to amass enough energy for that many people to be pushed out. The cube is called Kado. The alien's, Yaha-kui, main objective is to advance mankind. He didn't plan on absorbing the plane in his cube. One of the passengers just so happens to be a well-known negotiator, named Shindo. Yaha-kui is only taking him outside of the cube to help him communicate with the Japanese government. He tried communicating with that negotiator at the beginning telepathically, but all Shindo 'heard' was loud screaming. So, Yaha-kui, learned the basics of how to talk by putting a smartphone in a mini cube and analyzing it briefly. He apparently can make small cubes appear anywhere he wants. He also was first shown naked. I don't think that human form is actually what he looks like. He just uses it so humans won't be afraid, and to appear more 'normal'. Anyways, he recently showed that one of the ways he wants to advance humans, is by using little balls or wam that have an infinite amount of energy. Like batteries, but they never run out of juice. It'll be interesting to see what the government does with them. He wants them to share the wam with the rest of the world. I wonder if there are other things he wants to give humans? He seems very peaceful, but what if he changes his mind or gets pissed off somehow? Or, what if the wam are really something else?
Kabukibu has been interesting, too. I didn't think I'd like it, but it's growing on me. It's about a kabuki school club. At the moment, they're having difficulty getting members to join. I've noticed that they seem to be breaking gender norms/roles, which I think is pretty cool. One of the members used to really be into dance. At some point, he dropped it, thinking it wasn't 'manly' enough. He forced himself to be hyper-masculine (trying to be tough, into weightlifting, etc.), and wasn't happy. After some talking to, he broke down, and showed his feminine side. He finally agreed to join. They're also going over the history of it. It's thought of as an all-male production, but was actually started by a woman. She acted as both genders on stage. Another member that finally gave in to joining is a woman. She has a very masculine look, and is often mistaken as a man. She's also into sports and things that are considered more 'masculine'. One of the clubs she's apart of already is drama, and she's into acting. She wasn't sure if it was ok to join, because most people think only men can do it. She thought the story of the first kabuki actor was cool, and joined after that. The one that wanted to start the club the most has never acted nor danced, but seems to be obsessed with it. The other member that's helping him recruit others is very quiet. Still not sure about his interest in it.
Re:Creators has been better than expected, too. It's about characters from anime/video games/books/etc. that suddenly appear in the real world. They call the real world the Land of the G-ds. They know their creators live in that world. One of them, I think, might be planning to gather all the 'characters', and have them kill their creators. She's attacking everyone, though. I think she might actually be the main character's (from our world) 'creation'. He just doesn't recognize her. He draws in his free time, and one of the incomplete drawings looked a lot like that character. Still don't really know. He's just helping a couple of those characters at the moment. The first character he met, just found her creator and interacted with him. They think their creators can help put them back in their worlds somehow. Also, many of these characters have powers, but when they use them in the real world, they follow this world's physics. So, something that might not have hurt people in their world, might kill them in this world.
Boruto has been decent. Again, I'm mainly watching it to see what happened to the characters from Naruto. Who got together, if they had kids who are they, what are they up to now, etc. After seeing that stuff, I'll probably drop it. It's interesting that the next generation seems to be more talented. However, a lot of it is kind of recycled stuff. The first few minutes of the first episode, showed a much older Boruto fighting someone. It seemed like Konoha was deserted, and Boruto ended up being a rogue ninja. That does sound like it'll be a different 'thing', but it's a while into the future. How many episodes will it take to get to that point? Are they thinking of making this really long like Naruto? I don't know.
Almost done with Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan, or the Disastrous Life of Saiki Kusuo. I've really liked this one. Although, they talk super fast. It's apparently going to have a 2nd season soon. So, that'll be nice.
Almost finished with Handa-kun, too. I'm conflicted with this one. There's a lot of misunderstandings, and even if there weren't, it still seems like his classmates are cruel to him at times. He's paranoid of everyone, and thinks everyone hates him. The only person he trusts is a childhood friend, but I think he's the worst one towards him. He essentially created this complex that Handa has, and thinks it's funny. (Although, there have been moments where he felt horrible about it.) To everyone else, Handa is the most popular, some worship him, he has his own fan club, and people think he says amazing uplifting things. In reality, he's constantly trying to figure out ways that'll keep people from bullying him (in his mind), and people will leave him alone. He's not trying to sound profound or anything. This is apparently a prequel to another series, Barakamon, where he has an opposite personality. Or, that's how some have described it. They say it's better, too. I might watch that one in the future.

National Oatmeal Day!
Mood:
I love oatmeal!
Used to eat it for breakfast almost every morning. I usually put some raisins, sweetener, a tiny bit of creamer, and salt in it. Sometimes I add a little maple syrup. And, then occasionally I just like to eat it plain. Oatmeal cookies are pretty awesome, too. Sunday was National Potato Day. I also love potatoes! It's very versatile. I could eat them all day.
Had my first therapy session in about 8 months. Almost didn't feel like therapy. I kind of like her. She said her approach to therapy is more focused on spirituality. I think I need that. Not sure how she'll help me, but seems like it was a good start. In fact, we talked about things that I never got to with other therapists.
I took a bus over to the ferry terminal, caught a ferry, and walked from that ferry terminal to the counseling center. I was going to take a bus for part of the way to the counseling center, but there was a lot of construction going on that also backed up the buses. So, at least it doesn't cost me anything to walk, it was somewhat nice out, and I got to sightsee. Haven't really had the opportunity to explore the city by myself. There were some interesting people and places. I got a bit lost at one point, but quickly and easily found the right way. 2 other people were lost, and I kind of felt bad that I couldn't help them.
I was about 10-15 minutes early to my appointment. So, right about on time.
Can't believe my birthday is in 9 days!
Not exactly sure what I'll do during the weekend for it, but hopefully it'll be fun! Might go to an art museum, science center, Uwajimaya, and/or look around an international district. The international district has a Chinatown, Japantown or Nihonmachi, Little Saigon, and a Filipino community. Uwajimaya is located there, but haven't really looked around that area. (Uwajimaya is a huge Asian super market. Most of what they sell is Japanese, but they sell lots of Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, etc. products. They even have some Russian stuff. I love this place!) Sounds like it'd be interesting.
Halloween is really coming up quickly! I have most of my costume, but I might need one or two more things. They're not particularly 'Halloween' things, they can be useful for other times. These are just to make me look...better. The dress is semi-tight, and it's sleeveless. So, people would see my bra with the straps. Hangs pretty low too. I'll be showing a bit more cleavage than I'm used to as well...
I'm going as my original character, Sin Petra, from Alliance. I've got a wig that looks close to the color and style that I want. Would have been cool if it moved a bit. She's a medusa, so each skinny strand of her hair is a thin snake. So, it moves slightly. Oh well, maybe her snakes will be sleeping or something.
The dress is semi-short and black velvet with a patterned top (kind of ribbed, I guess). I haven't tried wearing it since I was at or close to my heaviest. It looked horrible back then, and it was for another Halloween costume. I was someone who froze to death in the water after the Titanic went down. Had 'ice crystals' that had to be glued on one by one. Friends helped out with that one. The idea was interesting, and it wasn't too bad aside from the dress not fitting right. Anyways, I tried it on a couple of days ago, and it looked pretty decent on me now. Kind of surprising, because I don't think I'm down to that size in dresses yet. But, then again I haven't tried on a dress in a long time. So, I wouldn't know currently. I have noticed that I lost even more weight lately. I think this dress was originally just for formal stuff, but somehow it turned into something I use for Halloween.
Maybe because there aren't too many formal events to go to. I also have a fancy shawl that goes with it. I think it's velvet, rather big, and has a fringe. Not sure if I'll use that. Or worse comes to worse, I might hide my straps with it...
I also have really long Halloween gloves now. They're a bit longer than I wanted, but I can always roll it up nicely. I think it's made for someone who's slightly slimmer in the arms, but then again it's stretchy. So, maybe it just needs to conform to the shape of my arms. My fingers aren't quite big/long enough to fill the glove part all the way. But, it looks interesting.
Also, got some eyeliner for her makeup. I have no experience with it, so it should be interesting. I plan to use some smoky looking eye shadow (it might be really old, though), mascara, a lot of foundation, dark lipstick (not sure what color yet, and might be old as well), eyebrow pencil, and I might use a dark nail polish for my nails. My character loves to wear makeup, so this shall be an adventure.
I like to wear it occasionally, but usually not that much of it. Haven't really decided what shoes I'll wear for the costume, but I'm sure there will be something. It'd be interesting if I do get into character, as well. I love to dress up, eat candy, and watch horror movies. So, it's my type of holiday.
My grandma passed away last Tuesday.
Feels weird to realize I now only have one grandparent, my grandpa on that side. I'm more worried about how my grandpa is doing. I loved my grandma, but I don't think its really 'hit me' yet. Wish we lived closer to them, and other members of both sides of my family. They live on the other side of the country. So, it makes it a little harder. Plus, she passed away close to her birthday. I have had a harder time concentrating on things since I found out.
Finished watching Uchouten Kazoku or The Eccentric Family. It was a really good series. It'd be cool if they did a second season, but I kind of doubt they would. Had a really good ending.
Started reading Pandora Hearts. I loved the anime, so why not read the manga? The manga's still ongoing, so it obviously has more to it than the anime. Not sure where the anime left off in the manga, or if and when it might have diverged from the manga's plot. Should be interesting to see how different it is in that way, too.
Been playing my clarinet. Today, I did some klezmer tunes and Mozart pieces. The Mozart ones are from an advanced book. Sounding better and better every time I play now. Wrote some more of the 2nd short story to my nightmare anthology. This one is a bit longer than I expected, but I think I might be nearing the end of it. Not sure, though.
I love oatmeal!
Can't believe my birthday is in 9 days!
Studied more compounds for the kanji: 代. 五代 or ごだい (godai): Five Dynasties (of Chinese history). 歳代 or さいだい (saidai): (suf) decade (of age), the ...ties. 酒代 or さかだい (sakadai): alcohol expenses. 三代 or さんだい (sandai): three generations; third generation. 昭代 or しょうだい (shoudai): glorious reign, enlightened era. 初代 or しょだい (shodai): first generation, founder. 身代 or しんだい (shindai): fortune, property. 次代 or じだい (jidai): the next era. 時代 or じだい (jidai): period, epoch, era, age; the times, those days; oldness, ancientness, antiquity. 重代 or じゅうだい (juudai): successive generations.
Well, tonight's support group should be interesting. It's a 5th Tuesday, so we're having a potluck and watching a movie. Someone said that they expect some people to be in costume. I don't have mine totally figured out yet, so I'm not going to.
I might put some sort of Halloween thing on. Might be something like my pumpkin earrings.

World Egg Day!
Mood:
I love eggs!
Nice that eggs have a whole day devoted to them. There's so many ways to have them, and they're used in so many recipes. Very useful food.
Finally got my morning walk in.
This time was earlier than what I used to do, because of getting up earlier. It was nice and crisp out there, the sun wasn't fully up yet (at least at the start of it), there was a surprising amount of people up and about, and I could smell the smell of cooking around some people's houses. Smelled like breakfast. It was nice.
A lot of the people I bumped into seemed nicer than the ones I would see later in the day. Most greeted me with a nod and a quick 'morning'.
The only thing that was a bit odd happened after I got back and locked the door again. As soon as I went to settle down a bit, someone rang the door bell. They did it about 3 more times, then jiggled the knob. It was a little creepy.
I might have answered it if they hadn't rang so much (and quickly), and didn't jiggle the knob. They sounded almost desperate...That's happened before, but it was the head of the neighborhood association trying to give us a piece of paper with the minutes from the last meeting. I had been cooking that time. But, this time they didn't leave a note or anything. So, it feels a little more creepy that way.
Doubles was kind of lame this time. Seemed anticlimactic. Next time should be much more interesting. One of the team members gets shot according to the preview. I hope they don't kill her off.
She's one of the coolest characters in the show. World Embryo's getting weirder and weirder. Despite that, I'm really liking it so far.
In Uchouten Kazoku, they caught everyone except the brother who says he can't transform back from a frog in a well. Kaisei saves the youngest brother, Yashiro, and forces him to look for his other brothers. Their mom is becoming sick while she's in her cage. Yaichiro, the eldest, is being 'prepared' to become an ingredient in the Friday Fellows' hot pot. He's fighting the entire time. Hasn't been killed yet, just being transferred to another place. Yasaburo, the 3rd son, was captured but is trying his best to get out. Soun is a really evil character to be able to do this, not only to family, but to fellow tanuki. Next time, in the preview, it hinted at the 2nd son (Yajiro) being out of the well, transforming into a train (like he used to love to do), with Yasaburo and Yashiro inside going towards where Yaichiro is being taken. Hopefully, they do go off to find him, and get there in time. Hope they get their mother while they're at it. If the Friday Fellows absolutely have to have a tanuki, they should choose Soun.
Played my clarinet. Did some Duke Ellington and Gershwin tunes. Still not too bad. Made a few mistakes, but not many. My tone was pretty good, too. Wrote a bit more of the 2nd short story for my nightmare anthology. It's actually creepier than I expected. Again, not sure where it's going. This story is really based off a combo of 3 of my recurring nightmares. It's fun to mold and blend them. Definitely going in different directions than what happened in the actual nightmares.

National Taco Day!
Mood:
I love tacos!
There are so many different types, and they can be customized as well. I tend to like the soft tacos more than the hard ones. Bean and cheese ones are one of my fave fillings. Put a little a salsa in there and it's awesome!
It's also World Animal Day. Animals should definitely be celebrated! The holiday started in Florence, Italy in 1931 at a convention of ecologists. Animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned in locations all over the globe.
Got up a little later than I expected to. This week I was hoping to get up a bit earlier than usual, to get more things done. Managed to do that for at least a couple of the days. The rest of the time, I ended up staying up later than usual the night before. There was one day where I woke up 'naturally' at 5:40am, and I had stayed up until about 12:30am the night before. So, my sleeping pattern has been really wacky anyways this week.
Hopefully next week will be different.
Doubles has been interesting so far. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I'm liking it a lot now. Every character has some sort of personality quirk. Very interesting story behind each case.
In Uchouten Kazoku, the family's (the Shimogamo) being rounded up, and the eldest son (Yaichiro) might be used for the Friday Fellows' annual hot pot. The people behind it this time are another tanuki family called the Ebisugawa. The head of that family, Soun, is brother to the late Soichiro Shimogamo. Turned out he had turned his own brother over to the Friday Fellows all those years ago. The youngest son, Yashiro Shimogamo, is stuck in a warehouse. And, they supposedly caught their mother. The second oldest son can't undo his transformation into a frog, and is stuck in a well. (His guilt for not being able to save his father, pushed him to it.) Now, Yasaburo Shimogamo (the 3rd son) is the only one they haven't caught, but is surrounded by the other family. I think he's going to break down and fight them, and that he'll be more powerful than he let's on. Maybe the one that should be 'chosen' for the hot pot is Soun. This is all because of an election to appoint the head of the tanuki society. Soichiro won last time, and I think his brother couldn't stand it. Now, one of Soichiro's sons is also planning to become the head, and he can't stand that either. This is kind of sad, but interesting.
I'm not exactly sure where World Embryo is headed, but its been a pretty good manga so far. For my kanji today, I practiced a bit on the JapaneseClass site. Then, went over my 'weak' kanji and vocab. The ones that I need to work a little bit more on. Which wasn't very many.
Oh, and a little while ago, I got a new candle. I haven't been as into them as I used to be, but decided to give it a go again.
This time I got one called Toasted Marshmallows. It smells heavenly! I love it.
Still smells awesome even when it's not lit. Last night, we went to JJ's. I hadn't been there in a long time. Got my fave, smoked salmon linguine. Better than I remember it tasting. But, there seemed to be less salmon, as well.
I love tacos!

National Hot Dog Day!
Mood:
Yay, for hot dogs!
One of my faves are beef Polish hot dogs. The ones at Costco are awesome, although HUGE. (And, they're kosher!) Plus, Hebrew National does pretty good regular hot dogs as well. Great during summer. Recently had a large Hebrew National one, and some 3-bean salad on the side for a dinner. Very filling and good.
I usually like relish, ketchup or BBQ sauce, and mustard on mine. Sometimes, sauerkraut.
Went to my first non-Jewish and same sex wedding on Sunday. I'm so happy for them!
They're our neighbors, that live not too far from us. Incredibly nice people. One of them always asks me how I'm doing when she catches me while I'm walking. (She's usually in her car.) They run a pet nanny business. I think we used them once, as well. It's cool that they have a giant pride flag displayed at their house outside. They had been together for 30 years already. Felt like they were already married, but weren't recognized by the state. And, now that they can be, they finally got their chance to have a wedding.
Anyways, they held their wedding at their church. Apparently, the church is very progressive and welcoming. Not sure if it was my first time at a church service...Felt a little weird at times.
That church has held 6 weddings this year, all same sex couples. Really cool. Despite me feeling a bit uncomfortable, the people were nice to me. I just wanted to celebrate with the couple. It seemed like a good wedding. A lot of passages about love.
After the service, we all headed to the banquet hall(?) and had lunch. There wasn't very many places to sit for a while. But, we found a nice sunny place. There were a lot of things that I couldn't eat, and quite a lot that Dad couldn't eat.
I had the fruit salad, a hybrid of some sort of egg salad and potato salad, tuna salad croissant sandwich (with some grapes mixed in that surprised me), and some Caesar salad. They had punch or water. Wasn't sure if the punch had grapefruit in it, so I had to stay away from it.
(Can't have grapefruit with the meds I'm on.)
Then, they did a bunch of toasts to the couple. Couldn't have champagne (alcohol's not good for me either, messes with my meds), so I acted like I was doing the cheers without anything in my hands.
Later, I grabbed a couple of cupcakes before they managed to make it over to the tiny cake and cut it. We were both getting tired and wanted to leave. I thought I couldn't leave without taking at least a cupcake.
The carrot cake one's icing was not very good. Tasted too cream cheesy. The cake part of that was ok, but not the best. The other one was chocolate, and was pretty good.
Started Dangan Ronpa a couple of weeks ago. It lit. means 'Bullet Rebuttal'. It's adapted from a murder-mystery visual novel. The video game was released soon after. The game itself produced 2 manga adaptations. Its become pretty popular, apparently. So, doesn't surprise me that they'd make an anime adaptation. It takes place at an elite high school called Hope's Peak Academy, which accepts talented 'Super High School Level' students from the highest caliber in various fields each year, along with one average 'Lucky Student' selected by raffle. Makoto Naegi is chosen as the 'Lucky Student'. As soon as he arrives at the gates, he passes out and wakes up inside the school. Where he meets 14 other newly picked Super High School students who are in the same situation as him. A sadistic, remote-controlled, monochrome bear named Monokuma appears, and tells them he's the principal and that they are imprisoned in the academy for the rest of their lives. He offers only one way for students to graduate: murder another student and get away with it. After a murder occurs, they hold a class trial, where they must determine amongst themselves who the killer is. If they can successfully determine who the real killer is, that person is put to a gruesome and ironic execution for disrupting school order. However, if the wrong accusation is made, then the true killer will be allowed to leave the academy, while everyone else will be executed. It's very interesting, and kind of funky. I love the murder-mystery genre, so this might be good. They've already killed off 2 people so far. One was killed by Monokuma for disrupting school order. She was yelling at him, and tried to stomp him to death. So he had spikes come out around her, and skewered her. The other one wasn't done by him. But, I think she killed herself. She was looking intently at a sword that was given to Makoto. She told him that she was too scared to stay in her room, and asked to switch rooms for the night. He left the weapons there. Now, everyone thinks he did it. The characters are rather off-beat, so it makes it even more interesting.
Started Uchouten Kazoku or the Eccentric Family on Saturday. (The lit. translation is actually 'Ecstatic Family', but the Eccentric Family is the official English title.) In Kyoto, there are 3 kinds of residents: humans, tanuki, and tengu. Shimogamo Yasaburou is the 3rd son of the tanuki family. His father, Souichirou, had been the head of the Kyoto tanuki community until he was eaten by the human members of 'Friday Club'. While taking care of an old tengu, fighting with other tanuki, and playing with a psychic human girl, Yasaburou approaches the truth of his father's death. He also likes to transform himself into the appearance of a human girl. Tanuki are raccoon-dogs, and tengu are associated with birds like crows or ravens, in Japanese mythology. The tengu, in some stories, will 'spirit away' people. Tanuki are usually tricksters, shapeshifters, jolly, mischievous, gullible, and absentminded. There are real tanukis in Japan, but they're obviously not like their folklore version. (Interesting how there seems to be more info on tanuki out there than tengu.) So far it's a very interesting story, and the tanuki in it live up to what I've read of the folklore stuff. The animation is a little...'different'. The characters' ears are drawn really oddly, and some of it seems surreal. Actually, some of the animation reminds me of Tsuritama. The flow of the art is nice, though. Liking it overall. Hopefully, it'll end up being one of the great ones this season...
Started watching Akuryo Byoutou or Demon Ward today. This was one of the shows I really wanted to watch this season, and I'm glad it's finally out! It's set within a hospital in the outskirts of town. Mysterious phenomena occur around a nurse named Runa Okami. According to a synopsis, the staff suspect her as the cause for some horrible cases and finds herself in danger. They haven't gotten to that point in the story yet, though. She did move from town to town growing up after she had a premonition of a classmate's death. In the 'vision' the classmate appeared all bloody and disturbed while moaning. She's been able to see 'visions' and ghosts ever since her mother died. People looked down on her for a while. But, I don't think the other nurses know about that sort of stuff yet. She has a friend who's a reporter, and wants to do a story on the abandoned ward of the hospital. The hospital hasn't gotten rid of it yet, because they haven't raised enough funds to bulldoze it. Runa is asked to go there to get something. Apparently it's kind of used as a storage for the time being. After finding what she was looking for, she got curious about the rest of the ward and went exploring. One of the last scenes of this episode was door locking on its own. So, now she's locked inside a creepy old hospital ward, where people have been spreading rumors about it being haunted.
The main part of the hospital, that's still operational, is starting to have its share of rumors as well. They showed one of the nurses getting spooked by one of the 'ghosts'. This is looking even better than I thought it would. The trailer's pretty scary too. The atmosphere the show gives off is downright creepy. I love scary/mystery shows.
Hitman Reborn just keeps getting more interesting. Got to know more about the arcobaleno. They won't reveal too much, still. In Aka Aka, Yue is getting a bit suspicious of what a 'meal' might actually entail. He has to choose one of the 2 humans he finds interesting, as his meal. There are dark entities that are eating people and calling them meals. He thinks he'll have to do something like that, but Kurogitsune told him that his 'meal' will be different.
Managed to play my clarinet. I want to get to playing it on a regular schedule again. Maybe I will this time!
Did some tunes from my advanced solo book. Started brainstorming my next short story in my nightmare anthology. Mapped out a bit more of my next drawing. The one where I'll have all my characters interacting with each other. Showing their heights, personalities, and clothes. Sounds great, but it'll take some planning and time. Still worth it.
Yay, for hot dogs!

日本語
Today I studied the compounds for the kanji: 身. The general meaning for it is: body, one's station in life, person, somebody, corpse. 身体 or しんたい (shintai): body; torso, trunk; build, physique, constitution; health; corpse, dead body. 身長 or しんちょう (shinchou): height (of body), stature. 身辺 or しんぺん (shinpen): one's person, around one's person, affairs. 身代 or しんだい (shindai): fortune, property. 身軽 or みがる (migaru): agile, nimble, light (of foot); casual (clothing), light (e.g. luggage); carefree, with limited responsibility. 身形 or みなり (minari): dress, attire, clothing, getup, outfit, personal appearance. 身近 or みじか (mijika): near oneself, close to one, familiar, imminent. 身元 or みもと (mimoto): person's identity, ID, past, background. Next time I'll do more compounds of this one.
This week I'm doing 45 sit-ups twice a day. So far, so good. It feels really tight in my abdomen after I do it each time. Starting to sweat a bit with it, too.
I've been taking my 2-mile walks too. Usually at night. The bugs seem to always like me.
Someone once told me I must have sweet blood, because the mosquitoes always find me first. I also get attacked by gnats while walking through a short trail at some point during my walk. They've made thick clouds around me before. So, I decided to put bug spray on for tonight's walk. They didn't bother me this time! We also got sunscreen a while ago. Haven't really used it yet. Even though its been really sunny out and I easily burn...
Hope to get into jump rope and Pilates soon, too.
