Rosh Chodesh Av was on the 24th. There's only 2 holidays during this month. One is a fast day and considered one of the saddest days. I might go into it more on or around that day. The other one is supposed to be one of the happiest days.
A few days ago, I was selling a bunch of stuff I had accumulated on Gaia. I really needed to clean up my inventory, and it's a great way to make gold. I like to use their 'dumpster dive' to not only find interesting stuff, but to sell expensive things I don't want. It's kind of a 2-for-1 thing. A lot of that stuff people actually buy real money for, but you can get it for free (if you're lucky) or a gold amount on the market that has other users selling stuff. If you know the system, it's great. I always sell stuff just a little less than the lowest price it's being sold at. It helps a lot. I've been selling things pretty quickly, and have made about 6 billion gold in that amount of time.
Anyways, someone pm'd me asking if I could lower the price of something by a lot. Not only do I try to go lower than the market is selling them, but I usually have the option as buy only. Once it is listed, I can't change the price. It's fixed. People can choose the options of bid, timed bid, barter, barter among their friends, etc. Those are more fluid. Plus, with lowering it by so far, I'd cheapen myself. It sold while I was asleep anyways.
She later pm'd me asking to be my friend. Saying we had a lot in common. I thought: sure, I might as well. I don't really know them, and it'd be nice to have another friend on there. The first post of hers was super long. It looked like a wall of text. Me being someone who wants to get to know others more tried to respond with as much as I could. I either write very little or a lot, depending on who I'm talking to. With every post, hers seemed to get longer. I felt I don't have time for that sort of stuff. She also repeated herself word for word several times. Almost like she was copying and pasting. That seemed suspicious in itself.
She said she was 18, and joined Gaia when she was 10. Gaia doesn't let anyone join unless they're 13+. A lot of the stuff can be too much for kids younger than that. Even then, some of the items can be very mature. I've been surprised sometimes. She said she loved my blog, even though she just found me. Yes, my blog is listed on my profile, but she couldn't have had the time to read much of it. She went on and on about her depression. Don't get me wrong. I understand and am cool with talking about it, but at some point you should talk about something else...Also, bringing G-d into it felt strange.
I later looked at her profile. The background had warnings about 3rd party viewers or something. She had a HUGE wishlist. Took up about half of her profile. There wasn't much info on her. Oh, I think I tried to check her profile before we were friends, but only friends could see it. There wasn't really anything to hide...I looked at her forum posts, and noticed she was posting every single day for several hours at a time, and every minute during that in a giveaway thread. You can't post every minute on there. There's a time limit between posts that you can't post a thing until it's up. It's like 5 minutes each time. It's supposed to keep spammers away. Plus, that seems weird to me. I understand trying to get items that way, but that's overkill.
I think she was fishing for info from me. I only told her things I'm willing to share with most people. Not like I gave her my address. I'm glad I stopped responding after I realized, and blocked her. If she's reading this, and it was a real account, I'm sorry. It just seemed too fishy for me. Reading/writing that much every time, for a conversation, was a bit much. So, hopefully, I wont get an angry comment. At least, I'll be the only one who sees it (I have it set to moderate comments before publishing), and I can block her on here if need be.
Lately, I've been getting a lot of likes/follows for my Alliance fb page. That's been really cool. A couple are from the Philippines, one's British (they actually liked Sweet Endless Terror, too), one's from South Africa, and I think another one's Nigerian. All these in the last couple of weeks. Sounds like they're from all over. Makes it more interesting.
I tried to make a meetup group for the local ace group. I went through the whole process of setting up an account for myself, then looked into making one. Apparently, it costs each month to make your own group on there. I could somewhat understand if we already had several members that were regulars offline, and we were taking dues or donations. The offline group hasn't been active, so there's no money for this sort of thing. That's kind of why I wanted to make a group on there in the first place. To get more members...I'll look into other sites that are similar but free in the future. I'm disappointed with meetup now.
I've kept up with writing both the sequel to Alliance and the memoir. I'm doing both each day now. I think I'm writing them about twice as fast as before this way. Makes me happy. Although, this means I essentially have to think twice as much while I write, too. Thinking about it while typing is the same as before, but then I have to think about the other one sooner. I'm trying to take a break between them, so I don't burn out.
Recently, it seemed Netflix had completely wiped my list off. That list that is really long, but full of interesting international stuff. So, I decided to redownload it. It wouldn't except the password I had. A couple of days later, I tried it again with a slightly different password and got in. All of the things on my list were still there. Yay! I've decided that I might treat myself with a show of some sort after I finish writing for the day. Most recent ones I've started have been a Belgian detective show called The Break, and another Singaporean detective show called Against the Tide. Both have been surprisingly good.
The Against the Tide one is about a famous mystery/fictional crime author. He's fascinated with psychology and studied a little of it in college. Apparently, in the current case, a murderer is copying everything from one of his books. There's also a psychologist who's helping with the case. Her client was killed. She seems like she's a main character. She finds criminals interesting, and tries to find out why they act the way they do. There are actual detectives, too. Ones a huge fan of the author, and the other seems like a real jerk. I hope they change that in the future. It loosely reminds me of Castle. I feel his look has a similar vibe to it, too.
The Break seems to be about a detective who goes to extremes to get answers. No one else seemed to be into the current case. (Except for his partner.) They kept labeling it a suicide. One of the characters has a ton of Nazi memorabilia. He might be the culprit. They also keep flashing to the future where he's talking to a therapist, and he seems to be involuntarily stuck there. Something big happened.
Finished watching Uchouten Kazoku 2 or The Eccentric Family 2. I ended up not liking Benten as much as before. She always had a dangerous side. She turned out to be bitchy, too. And, not in a good way. Yasaburou, one of the main tanuki brothers, was going to be cooked into a hotpot. Same thing happened to their father. He ended up being saved, and the humans in the Friday club that held that dinner annually, will most likely never be able to do it again. Yasaburou finally agreed to marrying Kaisei. She looks much younger than him. It seems a little weird that way. The only thing that kept him from agreeing was every time he'd see her, he'd transform from his human form back to his original tanuki form. In their culture, they say if this happens they're made for each other. He has an extreme case of it, though. It's usually not every time. The grandma was so cute. She was just a giant white ball of fluffy fur with a head that almost disappeared. She seemed to always be tired, and would take frequent naps. I think she lived in the forest.

Coffin Man

From the first Kuroshitsuji or Black Butler soundtrack. This whole soundtrack sounds amazing, and has a lot of different influences in it.
A large chunk of it sounds like they could be ragas or came right out of Bollywood. I forgot that was when they introduced Prince Soma and Agni. This one doesn't so much sound like it has an Indian flair. Although, the vocals in the background might...Can't tell.
It gives an overall cool feel, though. It's one of the Undertaker's themes. Particularly when Ciel and Sebastian are in his shop. He's one of my fave characters. Maybe even more so now as I'm reading the manga. Other tracks have a distinct German feel, and others have an English one. The series is based in late 19th century England. Mostly in London. The composer did a pretty good job with the soundtrack. Didn't really care for the other soundtracks for the series, though.

Just a few days ago, it was in the high 20s and now it's almost 60 degrees.
Apparently it'll stay up around that temp for a little while. From freezing, to somewhat warm...We were colder than usual, and then might have set record highs for this time of year. Crazy!
At least things aren't frozen over now. (Almost fell a few times while we were out shopping.
) Although, we're also getting a lot of rain, and it was incredibly windy yesterday. So, there's a flood watch, wind advisory, and landslide advisory for the area. Apparently the wind is going to be even stronger tonight through Thursday. Since the lights flickered yesterday, I have a feeling the power will go out on Thursday. Oh joy.
Ordered my next Jewish calendar from Amazon last Thursday, on the 4th. They told me I wouldn't get it until the 10th. I got it on the 6th. That's incredibly fast!
I wasn't expecting it that quickly. I thought since I'll be using it in January, as long as it comes before that, I'm cool with it. It was delivered and put on our front porch, instead of stuffed in our mailbox. Stayed nice and flat with the way they packed it, as well. The calendar is put out by the same people that did my current calendar. From the back, it looked like some more interesting stuff from their museum. Might be better than the current one.
So now I'm set for the new year's calendars. Yay! With the current year's calendars, I can make some pretty interesting posters out of them. I love doing that, and this way it gets even more use.
The Italian one has a lot of small pics which will be a little different compared to usual, but that can be fun. Most of the 'posters' in my room came from calendars. I cut the pics out, and use Blu-Tack or some variant of it, and stick them to my walls and closet doors. Might put some on my regular door this time...

Last Friday, for my 'cleaning day', I cleaned a good chunk of the dining room. Used the vacuum to get dust and cobwebs from the ceiling and around the posters/paintings. Vacuumed the curtains, too. Then, vacuumed part of the windows, wood around the windows, and the window's screen. Lots of stuff came off of it, too. Not quite as much as my bathroom window's screen, but close. I didn't know how dirty the windows were until I used Windex. The paper towels I used would instantly turn black as I went over a section for the first time.
That might have been harmful for us, but at least it's gone...
I started cleaning the china hutch (or is it cabinet?). Got to the top shelf, including all the glasses that it holds up there, the top mirror part of that shelf, the lights, the glass doors, and vacuumed part of the very top of it. It was difficult cleaning the very top part, and I had to use a step ladder. Took a while to do all that. Windex worked wonders!
Now that top shelf and the windows shine. The glasses look usable again. They had a thick layer of dust. Broke one of them because of how tightly packed they were.
It already had a chip in it, anyways. And, there were several others that had the same design. I was more worried about Rosie getting into the shards that had fallen on the carpet. She was watching me intently while I cleaned that room. She was good, and didn't run to it.
I decided to do the rest of the hutch next time. On the lower shelves there's more than just glasses, so it'll be a bit more of a to do. (Silver, wood, etc. based things.) I did the table, challah board, and candlesticks as well. Windex made the candlesticks shine again, as well as the table. It's really cool to do all that, look back to see how nice it looks, and realize I did that.
It motivates me to do more. I'll also vacuum the carpet in that room next time.
Been getting into Gaia's forums again. (Mostly during the weekends.) There are some pretty racist people on there, but I've noticed that the open-minded people might outnumber them.
I decided to respond to someone's thread about race, ethnicity, and labels. They were far from being racist themselves, but some of the other people were posting racist things in that thread. Similar stuff to what had been floating around in other places, so I just decided to respond and kind of get on my soapbox, so to speak...
I thought I'd get a backlash from the racist posters, instead I've been 'tipped' (if people like your post they can tip you, giving you a certain amount of gold each time. Gold is one of the currencies in the 'game') 3 times, and quoted a couple of times. The person who created the thread quoted me, and just said: "Well said! :D" I feel a little better than I did before. Kind of made my day.
Also, trying to educate people more about Judaism, when those sort of threads pop up. The most recent one was with a Messianic 'Jew', who was getting nervous because she wanted to be closer to her 'roots', and not celebrate things like Christmas. I almost had a fit just reading it...
You can't be both Christian and Jewish. You can admire, study, go to ceremonies, etc. for one and be the other, though. Saying you're both is odd, since they are so different. It's not like comparing Catholicism with regular Christianity. (To me, they're of the same religion, just different branches.) It's like comparing Christianity to something like Hinduism, for example. That's how odd it sounds to me. I said if she really felt like exploring Judaism, and that it might be more for her, she should study it, visit a synagogue, talk to people who are, etc. And, you can't just convert, there's a long process. I'm also a bit weary of Messianic 'Jews', because they've tried to convert my Hillel group (a Jewish group) in college several times while I was there. They'd wait until the meeting was over, and then hound us. So, my view of them is not good...

It has its own economy, you get your own store, etc. The dress up part of the site ties in with this (you have to pay for those dress up items somehow...), as well as your own house, car, game tokens, aquarium, and more. Since they did away with zOMG (an extra mmo game), I have a ton of items that are useless to me. But, people can still use them in alchemy (there are recipe lists for some things, and when you have everything, you can craft something new), and some can equip them to their avatar. There are also things I've found in Dumpster Dive (you have someone dive into a dumpster for you...When people donate, they go to the 'dive'. I donate quite often) that are very expensive, but I don't like them. Or, things I've gotten through Daily Chance (above every tab you go through, you win something if you click on the DC machine at the top once each, a day), or what my fish give me, or event items. Some have never interested me, so why not give it to people who want it?
Well, I've made quite a lot lately...Just a couple of years ago I thought 7,000 gold was a lot. I currently have almost 556 million...
The economy has been haywire too. Everything is super expensive. There's a suggested range for selling each item. I try to go with the lower end, but even that can be high. I just sold something (I think it was a scarf that has a few options to change how its worn. Hated the color. It was like Pepto-Bismal pink. Yuck!
) for 60 mil. That's a lot! And, I was selling it at a lower price than the lowest price in the marketplace for that item. I've seen some things that are being sold for billions on there. Some of the main shops, are pretty high up there, too. Lots of people are still complaining about it. I'm not sure if I'm complaining, or just amazed by that. They introduced GoFusion charms recently, as well. As soon as I was 1 charm away from being able to get an item I've wanted for a long time, they decided to do a huge overhaul and drop it.
They added a few things since, but I don't want those nearly as bad as I wanted that. I still can get a good number of things from it, but collecting charms takes a little longer...
Started watching Tales of the Abyss. It's based on a video game, and set in a fantasy world. It kind of feels like those shows where the characters are stuck in a game, only these started out in the game. So, it's more real for them. Just similar fights, 'magic', character designs, etc. I'm giving it another episode to see if I really like it enough.
Tried a few others that were rather short, too. None of them interested me. I'm almost done with watching Hero, so I'll have another one to look at. And, the only ones that are left on my list are really long shows. I consider really long to be over 100 episodes. MAR's the next one on the list, and it's 102 episodes long.

Lately, I've been trying to go to bed earlier again. Before I wasn't sleeping too well. But, I'm starting to feel better. I was going to bed around 11 and sometimes midnight. Now, I'm trying for around 9 or 9:30. That's helped quite a bit. I was feeling very run down before, like someone hit me with a truck.
Not feeling like that as much, now. Might still be recovering from it. I don't think I fully recovered from being sick because of going to bed so late. So, this has helped with that too. Still sneezing every so often. Maybe I do have allergies now? I've never had those before.
I have a chemical allergy, but that's different to me. (And, for most of my life, it's been the only type of allergy I've had.)
Wrote more of the 12th short story to my nightmare anthology. It seems even more unexpected than the others. Although, this one's the only one that's not really based on a nightmare. It's really about an odd (really annoying) sound I heard coming from inside my ears. I have Eustachian tube problems, and sometimes that creates some interesting sounds. (Also, have an excess of wax problem that kind of messes with it, too.) But, as I've been writing it, I've also added other elements that were actually from real life. Plus, I'm thinking this will be my last short story to it, so things have to be a little wonky for it...
Not sure how close I am to finishing this story, though.
Played my clarinet. Did some Klezmer and Mozart tunes. Realized a little while ago that the reed I was playing with had been badly warped. It was really hard to play with it. It surprised me, but I have been playing it more than I used to, so it makes sense that it would conk out at some point. I switched to a new reed the practice just before this one. It was a lot easier to play. I kind of felt like my clarinet needed a checkup (it's been a while since I've had someone look at it) or something, but it was all the reed's fault.

By Beast. Beast is a 6-member Korean band. The band's name used to be B2ST, standing for Boys to Search for Top. Their name eventually changed to BEAST, standing for Boys of the EAst Standing Tall. They debuted in 2009. Even though they're a Korean band, this song's in Japanese. It sounds great, though. With some Korean bands when they do a song in Japanese, it just doesn't go very well. But, this is one of the few where it really fits. It's a fun party/dance song. It's mostly about falling in love at first sight, and their adrenaline's going into overdrive. I love the beat of this one. It's one of those songs I can listen to over and over, and not get sick of it.The band sounds pretty good, so I might look into them more in the future...
This is my wallpaper for August. It's the 'adult' versions of the Arcobaleno (means Rainbow in Italian) in Hitman Reborn. Verde and Viper (or Mammon) are on the far left, Uni and Reborn are the 2nd from the left, Lal Mirch and Colonnello are 2nd from the right, and Fon and Skull are on the far right. You don't see most of them as their adult versions too often, except for Lal and Uni. The Arcobaleno are supposed to be the 'World's Strongest 7' hitmen. There are 8, because Colonnello tried to take Lal Mirch's place. (Trying to save her from the curse.) He was successful with taking her place, but she ended up still being inflicted with part of the curse, got a corrupt pacifier, and didn't get nearly the same amount of power. She considers herself a 'failed' one. Mostly got to see her 'adult' version during the Future Arc. I don't think I've seen Uni's 'baby' version. Most of the time, the others all look like defenseless babies. But, looks can be very deceiving...
That's part of their curse. They rarely showed Reborn's adult version. Uni's the leader of the Arcobaleno. Although, Reborn is when she's not around. (Which is most of the time.) Supposedly, the manga explains more about their curse and why they were cursed. The anime ended with so many questions unanswered about them.
Well, good thing I'm reading the manga, then. I think I have just a little more to read until I catch up to where the anime ended, it looks like there's a lot more of the manga after that.
My Italy calendar features Lake Garda this month. It's the largest lake in Italy, and located in the north. Again, the 'daily' pics are of famous landmarks and food. A lot of the pics in this one stretch out for a few days. Maybe they couldn't think of as many places to go? The 1st has a pic of boats, the next of a tower, next pic is of a pasta dish, after that a cafe, then there's a dog in a basket, and today's seems to be of a clock tower.
My Jewish calendar's main pic for this month is of a Shabbat lamp. It has an anonymous maker, made out of copper, possibly from the Balkans (that's a huge area...); 1800-1900. Looks like a very ornate oil lamp. The 2nd pic's of Torah finials. (They go on top of the rollers of the scroll.) They have an unknown maker, made out of silver, London, England; 1920-1922. They're really nice and shiny looking ones. The last pic's of a mezuzah. (Something we put on the doorposts of our houses, that contains a special text inside.) It has an anonymous maker, made out of Gypsum (glazed), 1990-2000. This one doesn't list where it's from. It might be from Amsterdam, where the museum is located...It has a fancy chef's hat, rolling pin, and frying pan painted on it. Kind of odd.It's also one of the most recent pieces they've featured. I like the older stuff more. It's kind of like peering into the past with those. There's a different feel with things back then.
The month-long holidays are: National Catfish Month, National Panini Month, National Peach Month, National Sandwich Month, American Artists Appreciation Month, National Goat Cheese Month. Some are important causes, some are to make you appreciate things you may take for granted, and some are just for fun. Not much this time. I haven't had catfish too often. Might try it again in the future. Paninis are great! Peaches are one of my fave fruits! Sandwiches are good, too. There's such a variety of them. Artists should be appreciated!
Goat cheese is pretty good. Interesting flavor.
I've been keeping up with my sit-ups. This week I'm doing 20 of them twice a day. Just enough to feel like 'something'. Getting back to my 2 2-mile walks today. Did the first one this morning. While I was out, I saw an elderly woman coming my way, so I made room for her. She stopped me and said I didn't have to move over for her. I responded with saying that I thought she might like more room. That area is kind of narrow, and some of the vegetation is overgrown spilling into part of the sidewalk, and therefore making it even more narrow. She said I was very kind and sweet, and was extremely grateful. Almost like no one does stuff like that for her. Which is sad.
She eventually said that she hoped I had a wondrous rest of my walk. Very nice lady. Hopefully, I'll do my 2nd one after dinner or something. Might be with Dad. It's nice to walk with others as well.
Speaking of walking, when I'm by myself I love to listen to my music.It's usually pretty loudly, because it's my way of blocking things out. Also, makes the walk not seem boring. It encourages me to do it more, if I have my music.
Anyways, my old ear buds to my Sony walkman mp3 player died out.Specifically, the left ear one. The sound wasn't getting through it. The other one kind of started to sound dull. So, I got a new pair. The sound is crisp, and I can hear more of the background stuff.
It's a really nice pair. I wasn't sure which ones would be good, and just decided on one. These may be better than when the Sony ear buds were new. They also feel more comfortable. So, this makes me very happy. Kind of transports me to another world.
Went to my gynecologist appointment Tuesday morning. Oddly, Dad had one scheduled right after mine. Waited just over 30 minutes passed my appointment time before the nurse saw me. For that, the nurse was essentially just checking me in. Not the actual appointment. I had to wait an additional 20 minutes or so to see the doctor.She told me that she had to operate 2 surprise C-sections. Oh joy.
I don't think I liked neither her nor her nurse. Both kind of treated me in a condescending way. The nurse saying 'good girl' to me is not a good thing.That might be good for someone who's like 6. The doctor was trying to change my mind about getting an IUD. Saying she couldn't see the 'benefit' of it. Ummm...How about it keeping me alive?
She kept saying things like if she was my sister, she'd talk me out of it. I don't have a sibling, but I'm pretty sure any family member who knows what happened to me in the past, would not talk me out of it.They'd be the ones encouraging me to get another one...Then, she said that she's told to try and talk her patients out of it. She said she would suggest other things if it wasn't for the clotting risk being so much higher for anything else. (I've had a horrible clot problem in the past, so those would definitely not be an option for me.) They seemed like they were almost laughing at me for not being 'sexually active'. And, gave me some warnings for if I decide to get pregnant, because of that clotting issue. Ummm...that wasn't the reason for me being there.
I don't need a lecture on sexual health or anything like that. I just want to be able to keep living. She almost didn't believe me when I told her that I had an 8-month long period before. The only thing that kept me from fully hemorrhaging out was the IUD. It made them really light too, so I didn't have to worry about it as much. I also have extremely painful ones when I'm off of it. And you wanted to talk me out of it?Crazy. I think I might have seen her before, didn't like her, and switched to a better doctor. But, I feel like I don't have that much time. I want it as soon as possible, so I don't have to think about it anymore. She finally agreed to it, and is going to do a pap during it. I have to be put under for all of this. (Hence why I had to talk to a gynecologist. Otherwise, my primary doctor can do all of this in her office.) It's just too painful for me while I'm awake. Hurts a lot once I wake up, but at least I don't have to go through it while they are trying to do the whole thing.
Went to the local support group a little later that day. There wasn't a very big turnout. Apparently for the one before it was supposed to be a potluck/movie day and only 6 showed up. (We were told this, since we weren't there.) A little more than that came this time, but not much.There was a new person this time. I swear he must have been the one I talked to a bit through Gaia, but don't really know because it's not like I can recognize him in real life just based on his avatar alone.He seemed to be thinking the same. Like he was about to ask about it, but was unsure as well. It'd be awesome if it was that person. I think it would be the first Gaian I've met in real life. A friend from college was the first one to show me that site, but I didn't become friends with her on there. Plus, I wasn't interested in it for a few years. (Opened my account on there in 2008, but she showed me it in '04 or '05, I think.) She would have been the only one I knew in person, though. (Oh, besides my mom. Who really didn't use it. Almost forgot though!) Maybe I'll find out in the future. We managed to come up with some interesting topics, but ended about a half hour earlier than usual.
Went to Shari's afterwards. They were running about 30 minutes behind, so it took a while for our food to come out.
I ordered the lunch trio. It's a pretty good deal. You get to choose 3 things from the list that's provided. That can be a half sandwich, salad, quiche, soup, or a dessert. I got the chicken salad half sandwich, toasted sesame salad, and a pecan pie slice. The sandwich was really good. Especially after I stuffed the pickle that was on the side inside it. The salad was odd.
Dressing was pretty good. The greens were pretty standard for a restaurant salad. The only thing that seemed odd was adding huge chunks of bleu cheese and pecan pralines to it. Seemed out of place. I normally love that stuff, but combine it together, everything seems to clash. The pecan pie was amazing!
It's one of my fave types of pie. I think I had their caramel pecan pie one before, but that doesn't hold a candle to the original. I was so hungry by the time I got it, I ate the whole thing. Didn't eat very much during the day, so I thought it evened out.
Got a bunch of awesome stuff again for groceries this time. (We usually do our big grocery run at the beginning of the month.) Got those breakfast sandwiches I like. They have a turkey sausage patty, fried egg whites, and cheese all on a croissant. (Low in calories, too.) It's very good. Also got chicken breakfast sausage, chicken pepperoni (sounds interesting), a big stick of beef summer sausage, rotisserie seasoned deli-sliced chicken, big everything bagels (first time trying Safeway's, and they're good), Greek lemon herb seasoned chicken breasts, Korean Bulgogi seasoned chicken breasts (both seasoned chicken are from Safeway, which was very interesting. Had the Greek one, and it was pretty good), lots of produce, macaroni salad, interesting looking pickles, an olive bread with both Greek and Spanish olives, Choco Tacos (I haven't had these in years. Basically ice cream with chocolate ripples stuffed into a sugar 'taco' or more like a waffle cone reshaped to be like a taco, and that's dipped in chocolate. Very decadent, but oh so good!
), also got a single serving of red velvet cake (it was huge!), and some other things. The new Safeway just down the street from us is great! Lots of interesting things.
Started watching Hamatora last week. (Hamatora lit. means 'Beach Tiger', but I also think I've heard the Hama part is used as a shortened form of Yokohama. The agency is located there in the show, and it's the name of it. So, Yokohama Tiger...) This is much better than I expected. The reviews I saw of it online are clearly divided. Either they absolutely loved it, or hated it with a passion. I'm not sure why people would hate it. The story seems very interesting, and the animation's pretty good. Anyways, it's about selected humans called Minimum Holders who have been discovered to possess supernatural abilities. The main character is a Minimum Holder named Nice (he's the one in the middle of the pic) who forms a detective agency called Hamatora, and it starts gathering a large number of Minimum Holders. (They meet at a place called Nowhere Cafe.) His partner's name is Murasaki. (He's the one on the far left.) He's a more rational thinker and prioritizes the requests based on the reward over the content. Nice is very impulsive, absentminded, and doesn't read the atmosphere well. Despite this, he's a genius and can quickly assess info. His ability is called Sonic Minimum, and allows him to move at the speed of sound. His headphones activates and helps him control his ability. Murasaki's ability is Gravity Minimum, and it gives him superhuman strength. It's activated when he takes his glasses off. It's interesting what some of the characters' abilities are, and how they activate them. There has to be something, so they can't just unleash their powers. Another character uses a taser, and another takes off an eye patch and uses brass knuckles. The second season is airing now. The first season, the one I'm on now, aired at the beginning of this year. So, it's relatively new.
Started watching Amatsuki (lit. Heavenly Moon) last week. It's pretty good. Not thrilled with it yet, but I think it has potential. Tokidoki is a high school student who, when he fails his history class, is sent to a high-tech history museum that virtually recreates the Edo period to do make-up work. What started as just a school project becomes a lot more complicated when he's attacked by 2 supernatural beings known as the Nue and Yakou, and loses his vision in his left eye. After being saved from the Nue by a girl named Kuchiha, he realizes that he's no longer wearing the simulation goggles, and is trapped in the virtual Edo. He met someone while starting out at the museum, named Kon, who also gets stuck in the virtual world. He was helping him out with his assignment. When Tokidoki woke up shortly after his attack, Kon told him that he had been there for 2 years already. Tokidoki had only been there for about a week. Odd. But, he did say time is not the same there. I guess I'll see how it pans out. Oh, and apparently there's only a few people who can see the Nue and Yakou.
Started watching Haikyuu last week, as well. I'm not really used to sports-themed anime. But, people were raving about it, and I like volleyball. Never wanted to be on the volleyball team, but it was kind of fun when we did it so often during PE in junior high and high school. A middle school student, Shouyou Hinata, gains a sudden love of volleyball after watching a national championship match on TV. Although short in height, he becomes determined to follow in the footsteps of the championship's star player, nicknamed the 'Small Giant', after seeing his plays. (Shouyou ends up being really good at jumping and has incredible speed.) He creates a volleyball club and begins practicing by himself. Eventually 5 other members join by his last year in middle school, but they're defeated in their first tournament, after being challenged by the championship's fave team, which includes the so-called 'King of the Court' Tobio Kageyama, in the first round. Though they suffered a miserable defeat, Shouyou vows to surpass Tobio. He applies to the Karasuno High School volleyball club, only to find out that Tobio has joined as well. It's pretty funny so far. The anime is still ongoing, but it started back in April.
Started watching Kuroko no Basket (Kuroko's Basketball. They shorten basketball to basket usually. Technically, they would pronounce/write out it as basuke, though.) yesterday. Basketball's my fave sport, and probably would have at least tried to play it in high school.But, our band director said you can't be both in band and play a sport. (Band was already like a sport, with how many things we did, not even including the marching.) Unless it was something like track. The band doesn't play for the track team. If you were apart of the band, you had to play in the pep band for the basketball teams. So, at least I could watch it.I also have a basketball hoop in our backyard, and used to shoot hoops all the time. Sometimes my friends would come over and play a bit. So, this sports-type anime might be right up my alley.
The basketball team of Teikou Middle School rose to distinction by demolishing all competition. The regulars of the team became known as the 'Generation of Miracles'. After graduating from middle school, these 5 stars went to different high schools with top basketball teams. However, few knew that there was another player in the 'Generation of Miracles', a phantom 6th man. This mysterious player is a freshman at Seirin High School, a new school with a powerful, if little known, team. Now, Kuroko Tetsuya (he's the one in the pic with blue hair), the 6th member of the 'Generation of Miracles', and Kagami Taiga (the one with the ball in the pic), a naturally talented player who spent most of middle school in the US, are aiming to take Seirin to the top of Japan, taking on Kuroko's teammates one by one. This one's been pretty funny, too. Kuroko's main thing is slight of hand, being unnoticed, and passing well. He's not very good with shooting hoops or anything else. People can't read him in general. The anime's going to have a 3rd season soon. The first one started in 2012. Oh, and their coach is Aida Riko. They're surprised at first because she's a girl coaching the men's team. She has the ability to tell what each player's potential is by looking at them shirtless. She can't read Kuroko's. Kagami's is off the charts, though. She gained this ability while following her father to work. He tests athletes' fitness levels.
The only reason I added more anime was because none of the Jdrama shows this season looked great. So, I replaced the empty slots/days that normally would have Jdrama shows with the new anime. I'm still watching Gochisousan, Kamen Teacher, and Juui-san, Jiken Desu Yo. So, at least there's some drama in the mix.

Didn't eat very much during the day, so I thought it evened out. Got a bunch of awesome stuff again for groceries this time. (We usually do our big grocery run at the beginning of the month.) Got those breakfast sandwiches I like. They have a turkey sausage patty, fried egg whites, and cheese all on a croissant. (Low in calories, too.) It's very good. Also got chicken breakfast sausage, chicken pepperoni (sounds interesting), a big stick of beef summer sausage, rotisserie seasoned deli-sliced chicken, big everything bagels (first time trying Safeway's, and they're good), Greek lemon herb seasoned chicken breasts, Korean Bulgogi seasoned chicken breasts (both seasoned chicken are from Safeway, which was very interesting. Had the Greek one, and it was pretty good), lots of produce, macaroni salad, interesting looking pickles, an olive bread with both Greek and Spanish olives, Choco Tacos (I haven't had these in years. Basically ice cream with chocolate ripples stuffed into a sugar 'taco' or more like a waffle cone reshaped to be like a taco, and that's dipped in chocolate. Very decadent, but oh so good!
), also got a single serving of red velvet cake (it was huge!), and some other things. The new Safeway just down the street from us is great! Lots of interesting things.
But, our band director said you can't be both in band and play a sport. (Band was already like a sport, with how many things we did, not even including the marching.) Unless it was something like track. The band doesn't play for the track team. If you were apart of the band, you had to play in the pep band for the basketball teams. So, at least I could watch it.I also have a basketball hoop in our backyard, and used to shoot hoops all the time. Sometimes my friends would come over and play a bit. So, this sports-type anime might be right up my alley.The basketball team of Teikou Middle School rose to distinction by demolishing all competition. The regulars of the team became known as the 'Generation of Miracles'. After graduating from middle school, these 5 stars went to different high schools with top basketball teams. However, few knew that there was another player in the 'Generation of Miracles', a phantom 6th man. This mysterious player is a freshman at Seirin High School, a new school with a powerful, if little known, team. Now, Kuroko Tetsuya (he's the one in the pic with blue hair), the 6th member of the 'Generation of Miracles', and Kagami Taiga (the one with the ball in the pic), a naturally talented player who spent most of middle school in the US, are aiming to take Seirin to the top of Japan, taking on Kuroko's teammates one by one. This one's been pretty funny, too. Kuroko's main thing is slight of hand, being unnoticed, and passing well. He's not very good with shooting hoops or anything else. People can't read him in general. The anime's going to have a 3rd season soon. The first one started in 2012. Oh, and their coach is Aida Riko. They're surprised at first because she's a girl coaching the men's team. She has the ability to tell what each player's potential is by looking at them shirtless. She can't read Kuroko's. Kagami's is off the charts, though. She gained this ability while following her father to work. He tests athletes' fitness levels. The only reason I added more anime was because none of the Jdrama shows this season looked great. So, I replaced the empty slots/days that normally would have Jdrama shows with the new anime. I'm still watching Gochisousan, Kamen Teacher, and Juui-san, Jiken Desu Yo. So, at least there's some drama in the mix.
