By 72. In English, I'll Be Here! It's one of the theme songs to the Jdrama, Untouchable. I love the series, and this really set the mood for it. It's somewhat haunting, hopeful, yet sad, and beautiful. I didn't see the artist's music video until much later, but it's cool too. Lots of metaphors, and the wolf and scenery are beautiful also.
It's starting to get really cold again.It was forecasted for later in the week, but it's snowing!I still haven't gotten the info (itinerary, emergency numbers, flight info, packing list, etc.) for my trip to Israel. If I don't get an email by the afternoon, I will email or call them today.It's getting ridiculous. We only have 16 days left.I also looked on FB to see if our group has been made yet. It hasn't. So, it's not just me.I saw a couple of other groups that are up, but they leave earlier than we do. It's interesting to glance at what they're saying or asking. Gives me a chance to figure out what to ask them when it's up.Mom brought up that it might be easier if I check my luggage at SeaTac airport and just send it directly to Ben Gurion airport. But, the thing is, I think we may have to pick it up at JFK and send it with the group's luggage. I don't know.I'll ask when it's up. Also, there's a couple of questions about the 'payoneer' card we're using.
We got a wall charger for my mp3 player. Or, really anything that uses a USB port to charge. I can use that on my trip.I kind of need my tunes. I'll definitely need them on the plane. It's a 15-17 hour plane trip.Not including the one from SeaTac to JFK.
I made chicken tikka masala, with a side of green beans, for Shabbat dinner. The sauce was from a can, so it wasn't like I made it from scratch. But, it was good, quick, and easy.We went to Casa Luna for dinner yesterday. Haven't gone in so long. They make a lot of things from scratch (salsa, chips, tortillas, etc.), so it's good most of the time. I got a Mexican pizza. I love their's. Lots of beans, cheese, ground beef, tomatoes, a good fried tortilla, and really good sauce. Saying it's a pizza, just sounds funny to me.But, it's really good.Mom got their signature burrito. I thought it would be like a normal burrito. It was huge! Maybe next time I'll try it. I won't be able to finish it, but it looked good too. Mom ate maybe half of hers. That's ok, I couldn't finish mine either. Dad got some chicken mole. I love mole, so that looked tasty too.
I started another drama to replace Joker, called Orthros no Inu. (Funny, because one of the main actors was in Joker, too.) It's very interesting so far. I thought it would be too hokey or a flop or something. Ryuzaki Shinji possesses a 'G-d Hand', but seems to be an evil manipulative person. The hand can heal wounds and illnesses. Aoi Ryosuke possesses a 'Demon's Hand', but he's got a kind and almost angelic personality. His hand can kill a person with a single touch. They end up meeting with the help of detective Hasebe Nagisa. Aoi ends up helping Ryuzaki escape from prison. Only later realizing he was tricked. A very interesting beginning, and kind of cool. Orthros, by the way, is a 2-headed dog in Greek mythology. He was a 'brother' to Cerberus. Kind of cool.
Went to services on Saturday!Had a pretty good turn out. The Rabbi was late, because as soon as he got off the ferry, he ran out of gas.So, our cantor led the very beginning of it. The parsha was about Moses asking Pharaoh to 'let my people go'. It's a very interesting one. At the end, they let the kids from the school come in for kiddush. Years ago we used to have someone who made a chocolate chip and powdered sugar dusted challah for the oneg. She made some this time. It was so good!
There are so many great authors out there.It's cool they have their own day. I guess it also celebrates anyone who wants to become an author. Kind of nice. It's also Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.It's a Mexican holiday. It focuses on family and friends gathering to pray for and remember people who have died. It's a time to celebrate. A very interesting holiday. Apparently, today they honor children and infants, and tomorrow the adults. I finished the caption in the North American Post article. It's about these students who performed a Soran Bushi (ソーラン節) on a stage. It's a traditional work song of the Hokkaido herring fishery workers. That in modern times, has a choreographed interpretation that students in school perform. It sounds awesome to me.
Friday night, we went to a new restaurant called Himalayan Chutney. (To celebrate me going to Israel!) They serve both Indian and Nepali food. They're very close to where we live too. (That could be dangerous.) We got their vegetable appetizer plate. It was ok, but not great. I ordered the chicken tikka masala. It's usually my fave in most Indian restaurants. So, I wanted to see what theirs was like. It was phenomenal!So good! The sauce was perfect. They BBQ'd the chicken tandoori style, and it added a smoky flavor. One of the best ones I've had. My parents had more of a traditional Nepali dinner. They had Himalayan momos. They're similar to pot stickers, with a chicken mixture inside. It came with a coconut curry dipping sauce. Looked and sounded good.Would have been a better appetizer for us. Then they had a goat dish. I've only had goat 2 or 3 times. All of those times it was really good.They said it was really well done. People don't eat too much goat here, so the waitress was surprised that they ordered it.
Saturday, was the Shabbat with the same parsha I had for my Bat Mitzvah.So, it was especially interesting to me, to see what the Rabbi was going to say. I still remember studying that portion, and working on the drash.Crazy! Because, it was so long ago. (I was 13.) Well, to me it was. He talked about how we're like resident aliens. We're citizens or neighbors, but we're different than everyone else. An in between sort of people. I agreed with him for a lot of it. Just an odd way to go about it.The portion's called Chayei Sara, or the Life of Sara.I told some people about going to Israel, and they looked happy for me. I think I heard about someone thinking of giving me a gift for going to Israel. Very sweet, but wouldn't Israel be enough of a gift?I mean I'd gladly accept it, it just seems like an odd reason to me.
Later, we went shopping. I got a red, sort of a bohemian-styled shirt at the mall. After a while of shopping we were all tired. But, after we ate at Subway, we did more shopping.My parents got me a really nice mp3 player. It's a Sony Walkman with 16 GB, and can also store pics and video. It has the date and time, and you can make playlists. Oh, and it has the built-in speakers, like I wanted. I'm in love with it.They also got me a flash drive. My last one was corrupted. The new one holds up to 4 GB. Twice as much as my last one did. Seems to work fine too. I like the cap. It's built to swivel around. So, it doesn't pop off and get lost somewhere. They were smart.
Yesterday, I helped take down the sukkah. And, later handed out some candy to the kids. There wasn't very many of them this year.Usually, it's like every 5 minutes we hear someone at the door. It was pretty much dead this time. Our neighborhood's popular for trick or treaters, so it was a bit weird.Oh well, more candy for us!I didn't dress up this year, like I usually do. Just wasn't feeling it. I wore my orange pumpkin dangly earrings and black beaded necklace, though.
Started a new manga called Toraneko Folklore. It's very interesting and funny so far. I like characters that have their own quirks, and the main ones do. Touto is the central character, and in middle school he was the tough kid. People either fought, feared or avoided him. He wants his high school life to be different. He made it into a prestigious school. He comes off as having a harsh or angry demeanor most of the time. But, he really isn't. He makes 2 friends his first day. Their also hoping high school will be different. Yuta, was bullied before. He seems to have a happy-go-lucky attitude. Miyakoe, is very shy and had problems talking to people and making friends. She's into the occult. It's funny how Touto is assigning missions to himself in order to 'succeed'. Things like: stay in school from beginning to end; peacefully make friends over lunch; etc. He's fascinated by strange things. Like octopus hotdogs, apples shaped to look like rabbits, and bentos overall.
In Hetalia, they talked a bit about Sealand's history (which isn't much), and its relations with Iceland. Italy captured England by 'accident'. He fell into a kid's pitfall. England starts trying to figure out how to escape. Meanwhile, Romano threatens Italy with a Marmite Punishment, if England falls under another pitfall. England makes it out. Only he sticks out like a sore thumb, Germany finds him, and captures him again. Next, they were trying to figure out a way to wake up England. England starts muttering something about how America wet the bed when he was little; and America smacks him hard before he could say too much.
In Letter Bee, Lag's exhausted. Conner and Zazie suggest he get a check up. If you shoot too many Shindans, it can affect your health. Dr. Thunderland Jr. shows up. He's the head doctor of Bee-Hive and a professor of Biology. They also call him a corpse doctor. He likes to dissect things. Whether they're plants, animals, or humans. He takes Steak and says he's rare, and wants to dissect him. He dissects things, usually, to find the exact cause of diseases. Then, develop new medical techniques and medicines. Niche finds the doctor after breaking through his huge heavy doors. They save Steak. The Shindan showed the doctor's memories. He makes memorials for every human and animal he dissects. And, usually they're dead to begin with. People looked down on him because of his job. He had quarantined the cats Zazie was taking care of. He didn't kill them, but ran some tests, because there was a disease spreading among the strays in his neighborhood. Aria plays her violin for Lag. (In pic.) It's her spirit-restoring shindan. He feels a lot better after. I'm still amazed with the art in this series.

We were nominees for the Golden Apple Awards (I think that's what it was called) against other high school bands from around the world. (Chile, Japan, etc.) We played at Central Park's Naumburg Bandshell and Carnegie Hall.Oh man, it was the best!I don't think I slept for a week straight! We went to so many things. Plus, I saw a few of my relatives who live next to the area. We won a couple of awards. It was by far better, to me, than prom would have been.
Today's been really nice. In the low 70's.I feel a lot better mood wise too. I think I was pushing myself too much.Mom made that awesome frittata! It was so good.I think it might have been the first time I've had it. This one obviously has egg for the base, sweet red peppers, chopped onions, lots of fresh oregano, and feta on top. It looks like a pizza almost. So tasty! I helped with putting it in the oven and taking it out. She's not supposed to be near the heat, that's why they told her not to cook.
I got up late today, but I think I needed it. Because, I feel really refreshed.So, naturally, I didn't get a lot done. I mostly was fixing up my calendar on Yahoo, and started one through Google. I think I like the Google calendar more. Seems to have a lot more features.There's a lot of stuff coming up, and I didn't have any of it down.
I can't believe Rosh Hashanah starts on the night of the 8th.It's our New Year's. Also, the beginning of our High Holy Days. We're supposed to eat sweets, for a sweet new year. Apples dipped in honey is a very common symbolism for it. Plus, they're good.We sometimes make a honey cake or some teiglach. Teiglach is like little hard nuggets of dough smothered and cooked in honey. We also add some orange peel and some nuts. It's so good, but leaves such a mess!People have told us that they've never had it before we started bringing it. It's a big thing on the East coast, apparently. There's more to the holiday, but I'll say more when we get closer to it.
After that, it's the start of Yom Kippur, only 9 nights later. It's a day for atonement, and most people fast during it. I can't because of my meds. I want to so badly, though!Then, it's Sukkot a few days later! It's a harvest festival that lasts for a week. Whoa! So many that are coming up!And they're earlier than normal on the regular calendar.
I also read somewhere that the new Fall anime season's starting soon. Should be interesting. Also, one of the new ones is going to be Letter Bee Reverse, which is the second season of it. I thought there would only be one.I have to finish it soon, then. I'll look up other ones, too. It's more like giving me options for what to watch when I finish the ones I'm on. So, that I don't have to go through any large lists or something. Plus, it's good to be kept up to date with things, even if I don't watch some of the shows.
I'm also slimming down my playlist, because there's some songs I really am tired of. Others, are still awesome!I'll just have to get more great ones, to replace the ones I'm taking out.
For dinner, I made salmon with a melted margarine, lemon juice, and dill sauce, with capers on top. Some steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes as sides. I put chives, garlic, and a little pepper in the potatoes. All of it turned out so tasty! I surprised myself.First time cooking salmon! And, everyone else liked it too.
