A day for one of baseball's greatest players. His real name was George Herman Ruth, and he was left-handed. After winning the 1918 World Series with the Boston Red Sox, he was traded to the New York Yankees. The Red Sox didn't win another World Series until 2004.He was born in 1895, and died in 1948. He died from throat cancer. Fans honored him on this day in 1947, and declared it Babe Ruth Day for every organized baseball league in the US. It's also Morse Code Day.
Sadly, I didn't have time to post yesterday.Had a horrible night last night, and barely got any sleep. So, I got up a little later. Found out Rosie's a klepto-kitty. She's not as bad as that famous one named Dusty in California. But, she's decided to steal things from my father's office. Then, she leaves these 'presents' either in the middle of my bedroom floor or under my mom's office door. Sometimes on the stairs. So far, it's been things like sticky notes, a flash drive with my dad's book she's been working on for a while, pens, a bracelet keychain, etc. She comes into my room in the middle of the night, and starts howling. I think when she hears me shushing her, she thinks I'm hissing. So, naturally, she thinks I'm angry and tries to 'appease' me. I think she's misreading Mom too. It's kind of cute and funny.
I got a new watcher on dA last night! That makes about 19 active ones. 24, if you count them all. Crazy! Makes me so happy!Even if they don't comment, it's nice to know someone's looking at my art.
Mom had surgery yesterday on top of her scheduled radiation treatment. It was for a port in her chest. (They call it a power port.) It helps them easily give her something through an IV without having to find a vein. Both Mom and I have hard to find veins. (And, sometimes they roll. Sorry, for the nastiness.) So, it's good for her treatment. They had put tape almost all the way to her chin. To keep her from moving it around too much. So, until that top tape is taken off she needs some extra help with things. Someone was nice enough to drive her to the hospital to have the surgery and radiation treatment done. Today, she was able to find another person to drive her to get more radiation done.
Pesach's finally over!I kept it up the entire time.It gets really hard that last day. Mom broke it midday, because she needed something to eat after her surgery. It's understandable, and people shouldn't push themselves like that especially after surgery.(Just like people with health problems are exempt from fasting on Yom Kippur.) We all ate something different last night. I had the leftover meatloaf and some toast with peanut butter. I needed something like bread.During the holiday, if you're really strict, you're also not allowed to have peanut products. So, it was like heaven to me. After something like that, you learn to appreciate your food a little bit more.
Worked on editing Nico from my character sheet in Photoshop yesterday. I'll post him soon. I'm trying not to edit them too much, since like I said they're basically just prototypes. Not necessarily the final 'design' I'll end up with.Wrote more of chapter 13. I got a lot done. I feel like I'm constructing a totally different world. Makes it really fun.Played my clarinet. Worked on more Irish tunes. Wasn't too bad. It's been a while since I last played, so I usually give myself a little slack when that happens. Worked some more on Max's full body drawing. I like the way he's turning out.I had a hard time just letting myself erase the bones that are supposed to be under his clothes.Needed them to get his figure right. Also, I left faint traces of them, so I can figure out how I want the folds in his clothes to go. I'm not used to folds, so we'll see how it goes. Started another sentence from that You Maga article on stress relieving exercises. Almost done with it.
In Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, they talked about everyday black holes or fatal attractions. Things that are wrong or dangerous, yet we're still mesmerized by them. Like: renting movies that you know are horrible, buying an Italian car even though you know they're accident prone, fattening foods, haunted places, live broadcasts from a storm, aging amusement parks, despite it being a cemetery, it's a dating spot, the smell of permanent markers. (I love their examples of things. They're usually off the wall kind of stuff. This was pretty tame.) They realized that all the girls in his class are black holes, and they're attracted to sensei's black hole. When they're together it becomes one giant black hole. They get sucked into it, and on the other side they're turned into copies of the 'normal' girl. The only one who doesn't change is Kiri, and she gets freaked out. They had a Planet of the Apes parody. (Called it Planet of the Normals.)
Gosick has been a little slow, and predictable so far. I like the humor and the 'connections' between the characters, though. This one was about an Avril Bradley impersonator, who's really the 2nd generation of a famous thief named Kuiaran. Whose real name was Maxim. She wanted to steal a stamp from a postcard Avril's grandfather sent. Supposedly, it's the first stamp ever used. (Doubt that. Maybe in their world?) The impersonator had hid Avril in the school's storehouse. I like when the imposter attacked Kujo and Victorique saved him by throwing a bunch of books at her. She said, "That man is my...servant." Kind of cute.
I took this screenshot, because they talked about something that I've recently tried. It's so good!Didn't really know the name of it, so that was interesting. Victorique was surprised, because to her it looked like dog droppings. But, it was, tasty, hard, and sweet. Kujo, since he's an exchange student from Japan, gives her a different Japanese sweet/snack every time he sees her. Karinto is primarily made from brown sugar and flour. On the bag of the ones we got, they have allergen info. First time I saw that on a Japanese product, so it was interesting. I was a little turned off at first too. But, I love it now! The roots as to where it came from (or the idea) is controversial. From China, or Kyoto aristocrats, or Portugal. It first became available from street merchants around 1830 to 1841.
deviantART faves: Chibitalia: Little Artist Truth or False First, a cute painting of Chibitalia from Hetalia. The artist is thinking of making a Chibitalia shimeji and this is going to be one of the frames. Second, an awesome drawing from an artist I watch. I love her more 'anime-ish' (as she calls it) artwork. Her more realistic ones are a bit scary to me.
Youtube:
Not sure if I like the song, but lyrics are funny and somewhat creative. The vocaloid Kaito sings it:
A while back I posted a Hetalia parody vid on the opening of Kyouran Kazoku Nikki (or Diary of a Crazed Family). This is the actual opening theme. I really miss this anime!

7th Day of Pesach!
Mood:
Wow! Tonight's the last night. Sometimes we stop following the dietary laws on the last night. And, don't bother with the last day.Might do that this time. Don't know. It gets hard to keep it up. Yesterday, I saw we had waffles, and thought to myself 'why didn't I have those yet?' 'Oh! That's right...'I both love and hate the holiday. The symbolisms and the food we only get to have once a year, I love. It's hard to omit the other stuff though.
I've been hiccuping all day.It sounds funny, but it's somewhat painful. And kind of hard to do things like the dishes and laundry, while you're having a fit of it.I started up my walking again. I've just felt very busy for a while, and thought it would ease my stress a little.I love walking, even when it's raining. Which is what it's doing out today. It's cold too. Yesterday, I think, was really warm and sunny. According to the forecast we're still going to be cold for a few days. Yay!
I made English toffee matzah just before the holiday. (Top pic.) It's matzah, a layer of caramel, a layer of chocolate, and walnuts sprinkled on top. No matter what, everytime I make it, the caramel seeps through the matzah and makes the layer underneath.Maybe I stir it too much or something. After you cook it, it's refrigerated and broken up. Really awesome tasting, even if you screw up a bit.Made some matzah brei for yesterday's brunch. (Bottom pic.) I think it came out better than when I did it last year. I remembered to soak the matzah first this time. It's matzah, eggs, onions, garlic, and a little pepper and salt all fried together. Matzah brei just means fried matzah. There's lots of other variations on it too. Including some sweet ones.
Looked at some Mongolian recipes online yesterday. There's not many.Apple crumble, Mongolian chicken, and peanut butter banana bread. I thought these didn't sound like stuff they would make (aside from the chicken), but they had the names in Mongolian and I looked them up. They're legit. Interesting, I'll try them eventually.Today, if I have time, I'll look at Egyptian recipes online. I'm looking at the cuisines we didn't really have much of, first. Then, I'll start from the beginning of the list again, and look online.
Started posting character faces from my 1st character sheet. These characters are from my story, Alliance. There'll be 6 per sheet. Here's Max Leiche's. I really like how he came out. It might not be perfect, but it's good to me.He's a skeleton, so it was interesting drawing his skull. Here's Ravel Akuma's. I'm not sure if I like the way he came out. I really liked the first drawing I did of him. But, I was experimenting a little with on this one. As I said in the artist's comments, their names have a special meaning behind them. Leiche means corpse in German. While Max means 'the greatest'. I found it funny that it ended up being the 'greatest corpse'.With Ravel I was half thinking about the composer. Akuma means devil or demon in Japanese. He's constantly being mistaken for a devil in the story, so it fits.I didn't know at the time, when I named them, that the names would fit the characters so well. It's very interesting to me. I've already gotten faves on these 2 drawings and the 2 pics. And, even a comment on one!
Didn't go to services, because Mom's still not feeling very well.Found some new songs, so look for those in upcoming posts!Played the Sims 2. Apparently, Thailand is having a hard time becoming a toddler. Japan doesn't look anything like his parents.I might see if I can mess with his appearance a bit. Taiwan and HK want to have more babies. They're having a hard time already with 2 kids.Should be interesting if I throw another into the mix though. If I do, it'll be nice if it's a girl this time.
deviantART faves: Gaia Commission: iHidden Isaac Tresfore The all about Me MEME I did not make these! First, a really cool looking Gaia avatar painting. Second, a drawing of an artist's oc. He's kind of cool looking. Third, an interesting meme all about the artist who fills it out. Not sure if I'll get around to it.
