Well, it was on Friday. Pecans are one of my favorite nuts! So, yay! They have their own day! Apparently it's the only nut indigenous to North America. The holiday was created in 1775. It marked the day George Washington planted pecan trees at Mount Vernon. The Native Americans were the first to cultivate it, long before this date. I love pecan pie, and that's probably a perfect way to celebrate. But, my dad doesn't care for it. Thinks it's too sweet. So, it probably wouldn't have been good as a Shabbat dessert. Instead, we got a frosted almond ring. To me, almond rings are really plain, and I'm not enthusiastic about them. But, it's something sweet, so why not?
It's been gorgeous out most of the weekend. Perfect weather, and very sunny. I didn't have much time to post Friday. I started to, but then we needed to go to the grocery store, and it just got later and later. Before I knew it, it was 10 at night, and I'm not posting that late.Oh well.
Put a comment up on Today's Menu for Everyone for the Sauteed Chicken in Onion Sauce recipe. It added the recipe to my collection, added it to my 'comment' box, added recommendations based on that recipe, and added my username to the list of people on that recipe's page who have made it. Very interesting. All I said was it was delicious in Japanese. Doubt anyone will look at my page after that, but I thought I should say something. Also, noticed that recipe ranked 2nd in the popular recipes for the week. Nice.
Posted another pic on dA: Buildings in the Distance I kind of like this one. And, the rose was an interesting touch.I didn't know it was there when I took the pic. That new oc group I joined on dA, had let my first submission expire without denying or accepting it. So, I submitted another piece, thinking maybe they just didn't have enough admins. They accepted that one, and requested another from me. It's awesome how quick they ok'd this one, and that they asked for another one relating to that same original character. Yay!I've only had a group 'request' something one other time. Makes me happy.
Edited parts of Alliance. Noticed I forgot about a character or I think I was going to make her leave at some point. I'm not sure. The story will change slightly, but maybe it will be even better. I don't quite like this character, but she's important.
In Hetalia (manga), Hungary's introduced while she was apart of the Holy Roman Empire 'household'.She was the one who dressed up Italy when he was younger. Made him wear dresses. Some people would pick on him, others were confused and assumed he was a girl. Then, a young China meets Japan as a little kid. Talked about how the Japanese language came about. China wanted him to just use Kanji, but he came up with Hiragana instead. There was a brief appearance of a Tibet character. I don't think he's in the anime yet. The pic's of Estonia. Just got to the part when they introduce more of the Baltic nations.
Worked more on the You Maga article about my horoscope for the year. They said it will be a stressful year. The big things, like marriage, getting a job, etc., will be easy. But, the little things will slowly accumulate a massive amount of stress. Yay!
I started Shinryaku! Ika Musume. Or: Invasion! Squid Girl. It's hilarious! A squid girl has come to the surface to invade and conquer humanity for polluting the ocean. The first place she 'invades' and tries to make her base of operations is a small restaurant called the Lemon Beach House. She accidentally breaks a hole in their wall, and is forced to work as a waitress to pay off the damages. When she's cold or scared, she pukes black ink. Apparently, they start using it for their black ink spaghetti. And, it sells like hotcakes. Hopefully it will keep the humor up.
Went through some of our cookbooks, and wrote down what I might make. I'm looking at the cuisines on my list, and going through what we have already in our cookbooks. Then, I'll move on to online recipes. So far, I have a few Jewish and Italian recipes down. In most of these books, I only like a couple of recipes. (Some have recipes I have no interest in.) So, if I go through them and make a list of ones that interest me, it'll be easier to pick.Next, I'll look through our Japanese cookbooks. We have a lot, so there might be more of a selection. Found a few interesting dessert recipes, too. One, from a Jewish cookbook, is for apple pudding. There's a French version where you make like a crust on top, partially made with Challah. Mom says it sounds like a bread pudding that way. Sounds tasty. This should be a lot of fun!
Didn't go to services this time. Mom didn't feel well. I had a horrible headache.Rosie's meowing just after I went back to bed, didn't help. Hopefully next week we can go.
Later, we went out shopping. I got some mascara. I haven't used mascara since they told me not to when I got my contacts. I was a little nervous about it before. It should be nice to get back into wearing it. This one's water resistant (so it won't run if I cry), and safe to wear with contacts. My make up feels a little bland lately, so it will be nice to give it an extra boost.
Later, we went to Hakata. I love their food! The waitresses are bit strange, but the food is great. I got my fave, the chickenteridon and fried ice cream for dessert. There was a little misunderstanding with one of the people waiting on us. I went back and told her to not put onions in mine. Now that I remember, she did eventually say no onions on your chicken, ok. So, there shouldn't have been a problem. The guy who was waiting on us, said something like no onions for your miso soup. And, had thought no onions for all of us. Kind of funny. Eventually, everything came out the way we wanted it to. But, it was a bit bizarre.
deviantART faves: Axis Powers Hetalia: China bw kitty I did not make these! First, a nice painting of China. Not sure if I like all the text, which makes it look cluttered. But, the rest is great. Second, an awesome and cute black and white pic of a black cat.
